Movie Review: Kismat Konnection

Yet another highly-anticipated film, finally releases with Vidya Balan and Shahid Kapoor as the leading protagonists. A light, fun-filled film sprinkled with humour and romance makes this an interesting flick.

The film revolves around Raj Malhotra (Shahid Kapoor) an all-rounder when he was studying, and it was understood that he’d be prove his mettle post graduation as the greatest architect the world has ever seen. However, things don’t exactly go out as planned, and Raj is yet to find his big break. And, from the looks of things, it’s mostly been unfavourable. Disappointed, he soon seeks the advice of a fortune teller, who tells him that he must recognize his lucky mascot, so to speak.

An unlikely encounter, make that several, with Priya (Vidya Balan) suddenly dawns upon Raj, that Priya is in fact that lucky mascot, that makes things go in his favour. Somewhere down the line, he falls in love with Priya, but much to his dismay, he knows that she’s engaged to someone else, and that he’d no longer have her in his life.

Shot extensively in Canada, and directed by Aziz Mirza, the movie is stylish and slick. Music by Pritam is can be best described as easy listening. Acting wise, Shahid Kapoor and Vidya Balan delivers, and do have a nice on-screen chemistry. Supporting actors such as Om Puri, Himani Shivpuri, Boman Irani, Vishal Malhotra, and making his big screen debut from the small screen Amit Varma, all hold their own.
