Looking for a coastal cuisine adventure? If so, head on over to Annupam’s Coastal Express. Located near the Shivananda Circle, this restaurant specialises in sumptuous Mangalorean fare.
Spread over two levels, this restaurant can easily accommodate around 150 customers. There’s even an in-house bar. So whilst you nurse your drinks, you can compliment it with great starters like the rawa-coated deep fried silver fish, seafood platter, and scrumptious golden prawns amongst others.
Though there are Chinese and North Indian on the menu, it’s advisable to stick to their signature cuisine. Relish your piquant crab curry with neer dosas, and there are warm appams to attack the zesty fish curries. Try the Mangalorean speciality, pundi (rice balls) dipped in pomfret and anjal gravies. Dishes cooked with payye, yeri, kane, marvai and bangda are also on the menu.
Besides the seafood section, the chicken ghee roast has many takers. Cooked on a slow fire and marinated with several spices, and topped with a special homemade ghee brought from Kundapura. Other exciting dishes include the potato ghassi, bland chicken sukka, chicken Kundapura, kori roti and kanele (bamboo shoots). End you meal with ragi manni- a traditional sweet made with ragi, coconut and jaggery.
This is a family-run business, and the household lends support to the cooks to churn out time-honoured and innovative dishes. All the ingredients used are fresh, and are blended with traditional spices and masalas.
