The city is home to numerous multi and super-specialty hospitals, and is touted as the next big health destination.
One among them is Chinmaya Mission Hospital located at Indiranagar. Part of the Chinmaya Mission Trust, this hospital follows it’s benevolent mission to provide “immediate humane patient care at affordable costs.” This mid-size hospital came into being in the 60s.
Some of the facilities offered here are: a 24-hour emergency wing, twin operation theatres, ICU and has medical services like dentistry, cardiology, dentistry, ENT, gynaecology, ophthalmology, paediatric, physiotherapy and general medicine amongst others. Underprivileged patients seek these services as some of them are free of cost, and rest are provided at affordable costs. Immunisations are given free to infants, and CMH has established community centres in many villages offering medical services and education.
This hospital also initiated a primary health care programme in 1985 called CORD (Chinmaya Organisation for Rural Development), and serves over 600 villages in the country.
Besides this, other well-known hospitals include: MS Ramaiah, Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences, NIMHANS, St Johns, St Philomena, Wockhardt, Narayana Hrudayalaya, Mallya Hospital, Manipal Hospital, Columbia Asia, Jain Hospital and Bangalore Hospital.
