Bangalore’s flea market

Looking to pick up an old turntable or bike, or discovering some good quality second-hand items like electronic goods, computers, toys, trinkets, clothes, DVDs, VCDs and computer games? If so, head to the Sunday Bazaar.

This bazaar came into being many years ago, when a few vendors started to sell second-hand products on the pavements of Sultanpet. As shops were closed on Sundays, and traffic minimal, this was an ideal spot for a flea market. This turned out to be such a huge success, that more sellers descended here with an eclectic collection of wares, and then the rest, as the say, is history. Today, sellers from all over Karnataka, selling new and second-hand products throng here.

This extraordinary street market spreads across Sultanpet, Cottonpet, Chickpet, and A S Achar Street, Avenue Road, Akkipet, Taragupet and parts of BVK Iyengar road. The souk opens around 7 am, and as the day progresses, this place resounds with buzzing activity, with traders and buyers competing for best deals and sales.

From household appliances to apparels to hardware tools to software items, just about everything one can imagine is likely to be found here.

So if you’re in a mood to do some flea-market shopping, take a trip down here, and you just might find a steal!
