For those who would like to lounge around on a Saturday evening with a glass of chilled beer enveloped by the music of the retro gurus like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Nirvana, Pecos, Mojos and Stones are the places to be. Beer and only beer, a plate of peanuts or tacos, the company of good friends and, of course, the music have made weekend evenings at these places memorable for many a city slicker.
Another pub known to play classic rock is Purple Haze. Walk into this dimly-lit watering hole, and once you’ve grappled your way and found your booth, be prepared to be transported to another realm all together. As patrons start singing in unison at the top of their voices, one almost feels like one is already at a rock concert. Thankfully, this pub serves everything from beer to vodka.
Firangi Pani at Forum is another must-visit hole after a frenetic bout of shopping. This place is well-lit, and the in-house DJ dishes out the finest retro numbers from the 1960s to the 80s, entertaining an eclectic mix of corporates, shoppers, foreigners and a few young guns alike. The place tends to get crowded, so you might have to wait a bit before you get a seat. At the very least, you get a chance to stand and have your drink at barrel-shaped tables.
Tavern at Museum Inn on Museum Road, too, plays retro rock. Be sure to book your tables in advance, for it is always crowded.
Besides the regular retro music haunts, the newbie pubs too have theme weeks when retro music is played.
