Otherwise known as Krishna Jayanthi or Gokulashtami, come August 24, the city gets geared to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna. From tableau shopping to sweet shopping and temple visits, the city is abuzz.
ISKON:
ISKON is all set to ring in Lord Krishna’s birthday with much fervour. Devotional songs, pujas, fireworks and mouth-watering food amongst others will be held. Besides the main temple at Hare Krishna Hill, celebrations too will take place at its new location at “Vaikunta Hill” on Kanakapura Road, spanning over 28 acres. The ISKON Jaganath Mandir too will ring in the festivities.
Individual celebrations too take place at one’s home as well as residential celebrations were people get together and enact the “Dahi Handi” breaking ceremony.
Shopping:
Pick up a range of curious and other knick-knacks such as lamps, idols, and other paraphernalia from either you local neighbourhood stores and markets to others such as the State Cottage Emporium and Cauvery to name a few.
