Bangalore gets fresh!

Your friendly neighbourhood convenience store has just been upgraded to over 2000 sq ft of sheer shopping bliss, with a year-round supply of more than 150 varieties of domestic and imported fruits and vegetables, and the mark of Mukesh Ambani. With the launch of Reliance Fresh stores across the city, Reliance has finally made its foray into the retail market of Bangalore and aims to do so in other cities like Hyderabad and Chennai by the end of this year.

Each store has an area of about 2400 sq ft, with roughly one customer assistant manning per 100 sq ft, and stocks fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy, bakery products and groceries . Reliance Fresh also plans to sell over 200 products under its own brand, Reliance Select, and target a consumer base of 3000 households in a catchment area of about 2 kms.

With competitive pricing, home delivery services, shop-on-the-phone facilities and "Reliance One" memberships for frequent customers, the stores are gearing themselves for a huge draw. In the coming years Reliance also plans to invest heavily in other retail ventures, all across the country, in the form of hypermarkets, supermarkets and specialty stores.
