It’s a lazy Sunday morning after a Saturday night blast and cooking is the last thing on your mind. You want to stretch the previous night’s bonhomie over an extended session of scoff and swill. Mull no further, here is a low-down of some of the city’s hotspots where you can park yourself for hours on end and enjoy a scrumptious mid-afternoon buffet in style.
To start with, most five-star hotels have elaborate Sunday brunches, so you can station yourself at one of the many poolside settings at Taj, Oberoi, Leela Palace, Grand Ashok and leisurely unwind over a couple of chilled beers and delectable food.
If you can do with a slight change in setting, head over to Olives, the Mediterranean restaurant that sits pretty at a quaint villa on Castle Street. There can be no better way to spend a balmy Sunday morning than sampling exotic delights from the Mediterranean shores in the company of good friends or family.
A new kid on the block is Ista, located at Lido Mall. Not as expensive as Leela Palace or Oberoi, the 24-hour coffee shop at Ista makes for a good brunching option. To begin with, indulge in some lip-smacking grilled prawns, squids and chicken kebabs, and wash these down with vodka-based cocktails and beer. The vegetarian fare is equally delicious.
As is evident, brunches do seem to leave a dent in your wallet, but you only live once, so an occasional splurge is suitably justified.
Enjoy a cuppa with a round of some stimulating board game.
