Fanoos: Bangalore's Street grub redefined

The name Fanoos is iconic. Ask a true Bangalorean, and you’ll know exactly why. Tucked away in a little corner near Johnson Market lies a non-descript shop that sells the most amazing sheekh-kebab rolls and delectable kebabs one can ever imagine.

A pretty much rags-to-riches story, this little shop started as a small roadside eatery and soon became a full-fledged restaurant, thanks to its sumptuous food and loyal followers, and reasonably-priced menu. What also makes this place quite unique and popular is the fact that it is open till the wee hours of the morning, thus drawing a huge crowd, young and old, returning either from a party or a late-night rendezvous.

Apart from the mutton sheek-rolls, Fanoos offers its customers chicken rolls as well. To keep up with the times, Fanoos has introduced the shawarma roll in its list. In fact, the beef shawarma rolls here are to die for.

If rolls are not your thing, then go for something more substantive like their chicken, mutton or beef biriyani. Though this place offers a decent vegetarian fare, this is still truly a meat-eater’s haven.

A quick word for the faint-hearted: if you like to eat at places that are clinically clean and fancy looking, then Fanoos might not be your choice. This is strictly a no fancy-frills eatery.
