Grasshopper: The new-age restaurant of Bangalore

A restaurant, boutique or theatre—well, Grasshopper is a heady mix of all the three. A space that accommodates all things creative—be it food, designer clothes and accessories—Grasshopper is the new-age eating house set in style! With the building reminiscent of an urban warehouse, the architecture is a perfect blend of industrial sensibility and modern consciousness.

Cocooned in the lushness of a tropical setting, this place epitomises fine dining to its core and makes its patrons come back for more. A mere phone call and a tête-à-tête with the chef Himanshu ensure you the best custom-made meal coupled with that incredibly personalised service. Quite informal in its setting, the restaurant is housed in the porch overlooking the garden.

Fresh herbs from the garden flavour the handpicked vegetables, sea food, meat and the aromatic sauces to create that ultimate experience. The place is open for lunch and dinner every day except Mondays and reservations are a must.

As you wait for the delectable cuisines to arrive, take a short stroll through the designer studio adjacent to the restaurant. Here clothing and accessories exhibitions by some of the best names in the fashion industry like—Anshu Arora Sen, Aparna Jagdhari, Gaurav Gupta, Sonali and Himanshu, Anu Nagarkatte, Joe Ikareth, Puja Nayyar, Savio Jon and Sujit Mukherjee have been put on display, one designer at a time. Regale your senses to a vividly-exuberant display.

The upper mezzanine floor is also a gallery that exhibits a variety of items, which include stainless steel products crafted by Berry and Stettler, handmade paper and granite lamps designed by Jenny Pinto, contemporary glass products by the Manna Studio Line, collection of products in nickel and brushed bronze by Michael Aram and "Defining Spaces with Light" installations by Atul Johri.

This place has also served as a venue for productions by some of the well-known names in the field of creative arts that include Atul Kumar, Rajat Kapoor, Konarak Reddy and Peter Finger. As you soak in the exquisite ambience, it’s time to head for the table and tuck into the delectable cuisine that chef Himanshu has dished out for you.

Take your pick from their delightful braised lamb with parsley rice or prawns with citrus dressing. Pamper yourself with some sinful melt-in-the-mouth desserts like warm figs with soft cheese and chocolate truffle with strawberries. If you want the chef to decide the fare, go for their six-course meal that changes every month based on the season’s produce.

And as the heady aroma from the restaurant kitchen merges with the nocturnal smells from the garden, it’s time to call it a day and send a silent prayer for life’s little mercies.

Why'd you want the site to detail location and landmark when you have the phone number available. Call them up.

Grasshopper has a 7 course meal - that would last you about over 2 hours. From what I've heard, its a very different experience. Haven't been there yet, but they charge 1500/- per head. Pretty steep. Always thought this site has a woeful record of detailing fares at these various restaurants/eateries. Maybe thats a conscious decision by the asklaila team.
