The craving for sinfully rich desserts strikes again, and you need to satiate it pronto. Here’s the low-down of some of the popular places that are known for their uniqueness in all matters blissfully sweet.
What a better way than to start off with a huge chunk of that delectable Mississippi Mud Pie at Painted Platters at Jayanagar. Other equally devilish delights include the Rhum Savarin, a rum-soaked spongy cake, with an assortment of seasonal fresh fruits served with a scoop of ice-cream, and the ubiquitous Tiramisu.
Frescoes at Cunningham Road is another place known for its desserts. Its New York Philly Cheesecake, baked to perfection, is just to die for. Jackie O, a Baileys Irish Cream-based dessert, and the twenty-one-layer cake made of chocolate and almonds make for an interesting meal. Not to be outdone are the Milkyway Pie and the Baked Alaska. The only flip side here is that the pieces on display don’t quite match up to the ones on your plate in terms of size.
Next in line is the coconut soufflé at Ebony at MG Road. Light, and not overpowered by coconuts, as one might expect, this signature dessert is truly remarkable.
If you are planning to make a visit to Copper Chimney at MG Road in the near future, don’t even think of giving the Sizzling Brownie a miss. Tucking into the brownie, liberally laced with hot chocolate sauce, you would be pleasantly surprised by its warm, rich aroma. Savour the moment!
For those of you who love to dig into flavoured cheesecakes, there is the Kiwi Cheesecake at Creme Bohemian, and the Strawberry Cheesecake at Lazzio. And Spiga, by far wins, hands down, for its oh-my-god-I-think-I-just-died-and-went-to-heaven Oreo Cheesecake, and the (words fail to describe) Fig and Toffee Pie. The Kiwicake at Thom's in Frazer Town is also unassumingly lovely.
Daily Bread, the chain of boulangerie and patisserie, can be a stopover for a quick dessert. Its mango and apricot fresh cream pastry are worth trying. The warm Apple Pie at the Only Place and Schezan are also quite yummy.
Last but not the least, if you are in a mood for a long drive all for a chocolate mousse, then head off to Herbs and Spices at Whitefield. You’ll be duly rewarded.
