This three-storied restaurant was started in 1924, and is very simple in its décor. The ambiance, light fixtures and black-and-white photographs reflect a pre-independence mood. The ground floor serves beverages and snacks, while the top floors are dining areas.
Some of MTR’s signature items are the masala dosa liberally laced with dollops of butter, the crunchy udina vadas, and piping hot bisibele baath. Dig into the steaming idlis topped with sambhar and chutney, and wash it down with hot coffee.
There are many sweets on the menu, but obbattu with lots of ghee and the supreme chandrahara should not be missed.
