Movie Review: Get Smart

Based on the 60s sitcom, Get Smart revolves around the bumbling Steve Carell as Maxwell Smart or Agent 86, an analyst-turned field agent, and efficient and sassy-looking Anne Hathaway as Agent 99. Unfortunately, when the Control (a flying-under-the radar spy agency) is attacked and the agents identities revealed, the Chief (Alan Arkin) is left with little choice makes Maxwell Smart, a field agent. Maxwell is thrilled as his dreams of being a field agent has materialized, and he relishes the idea of working alongside his hero, Agent 23 (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson).

However, that isn’t the case to be, as he’s paired against Agent 99 whom he’s instantly falls for, but alas for him, the feelings aren’t reciprocated as Agent 99 is less than thrilled with the idea of working with him. Together, they set out to thwart KAOS, an evil spy agency’s mission of world domination. Armed with a few spy gadgets, and a rookie to the field agent business, Agent 86's enthusiasm makes up for his flaws, Get Smart is a delightfully entertaining movie, and hilarious.

If you’ve enjoyed Steve Carell’s performances in The Office and Little Miss Sunshine amongst others, you’re bound to enjoy this flick. He’s the bumbling, overeager agent that truly means no harm. Anne Hathaway, as always, effortlessly essays the role of the the deadly yet efficient Agent 99.
