After the smashing successful run from 1998-2004 on HBO, the fabulous four are back to regale us on the big screen. A reunion of four girlfriends: Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte.
A quick recap of what these fabulous four have been up to since they were last seen on the series: Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) is the author of three books, and is still in love and back with Big (Chris North) despite their many on-again, and off-again relationships in the past, and a marriage is on the cards for these two. Samantha’s (Kim Catrall) moved to LA to support her actor-boyfriend, while Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) is married to Steve (David Eigenberg) and their son, Brady in Brooklyn. And Charlotte, too, (Kristin Davis) is mom, after having adopted a Chinese daughter named Lily.
So when the all reunite, Carrie is given an assignment by her editor (Candice Bergman) to write a piece on being the last single woman in New York before getting hitched. However, you just know that things are not going well bewtween Carrie and Big, when it comes to planning the great wedding for they have very different views on how they should go about with the wedding, and as evident, the wedding falls through. While Samantha debates on her current relationship, which isn't being helped by her hot surfer neighbour of hers. Miranda, shortly dumps Steven after he admits to having a one-night stand and Charlotte wonders if her marriage is way too perfect.
Not to be burdened by their respective woes, the fab four set off to Mexico for a getaway, after the wedding falls through, and also in a way to individually re-think to what they truly want.
Louise from St. Louise (Jennifer Hudson) Carrie’s assistant, typically represents the transition of a small-town girl to the big-city, looking for the same things that every girl moves to New York for: The two L's - Labels and Love.
Michael Patrick King (writer and director) keeps the pace moving in his trademark style, while Stylist Patricia Field indulges in every fashionista’s dream. As far as the acting is concerned, each hold their own, and effortlessly essay the characters that we've grown to love over the years.
