If you live in the area, are passing through or just simply lurking around in search of a meal that is easy on your wallet and is served fast and hot, check out these grub holes in Indiranagar.
Start your gastronomic journey from CMH Road, a veritable treasure house for the bon vivant. There’s Anandha Bhavan, where you get all sorts of chaats and pav bhaji. Go further up while keeping an eye out for Homely Chicken Delights, a hole-in-the-wall eatery. Avoid sit-in dining, just get the fried-rice packed. At a spitting distance away is Suswaad Idli Bazaar, giving you the taste of namma south Indian cuisine. They redefine the term “cheap and best”, and have far more than just idlis on the menu.
Further up on CMH Road, on the right, is Empire Stall, a place you simply can’t miss. They don’t have any seating arrangement and are bang on the road, but the kebabs are made fresh and the butter chicken is dished out in generous quantities. Finally, at the fag end of CMH Road before you hit Ulsoor is Kanti Sweets. Take the flight of stairs up and settle in for some yummy chole bhature, chaat, paneer rolls and other goodies.
For some very good Chinese, that comes in huge quantities and is still easy on the purse, try Wanley on the Market Road. Piping hot parathas with all sorts of stuffing are a big draw at Lalitha’s Paratha Point near the Domlur bus stand.
If you are with a bunch of friends and in the mood for a dhaba experience without having to drive beyond the city, head to the BDA Complex. This place teems with people during the evening and at night, particularly when Danny Lambha’s Dhaba starts dishing out the dhaba-style food on steel plates and rickety tables.
If you want to pick up a light snack, try the rolls at Shahi’s, which come in sizes such as regular, mumbo and jumbo. Another eatery selling roll in the same complex is Nizaam’s , that also serves various other dishes.
