Bangalore presents a cornucopia of delights when it comes to South Indian vegetarian food. Amidst the mind-boggling options, there is one place that stands out with its range of simple and tasty grub from the four southern states. So if you want to start your day with a typical Tam breakfast of idli, dosas and pongal or would like to pack in a fourteen-course Kerala sadya spread for lunch or intend to fire up the nippy winter night with hot and spicy Andhra cuisine, Southindies at 100 Ft Road, Indiranagar, is your ticket.
Southindies is the brainwave of entrepreneur Vijay Abhimanyu and Master Chef Venkatesh Bhatt. Vijay, all of 19, is the MD who has time to run this eatery, do his business management course and also chill out with friends. Adding to the magic of the place is Master Chef Bhatt, also the CEO, who has traversed across 300 villages in South India and has an awesome collection of recipes in his kitty.
This is a multi-level eatery with different zones serving different fare. At “South Square” you can revel in the aromatic delights from the tawa while “Up South” is a great lounge to unwind over choicest wines or scarf up a quick business lunch. However, if you really intend to wow your clients choose “Suits & Sofas”, a sound-proof room complete with LCD screens and projectors, and a perfect venue for a conference.
But if it’s a quiet dinner you envisage, take the flight of stairs to the terrace restaurant, and have your fill in the company of a huge rain tree and a star-studded night.
