Q-Mart: Hyderabad’s answer to gourmet shopping

Till Q-Mart came to Hyderabad getting the right cheese for your enchiladas, quenching your lasagne craving without draining your pocket at Little Italy or Fusion 9, buying frozen turkey or pork for Christmas, garnishing your salad with exotic herbs, were too far-fetched to consider! This two-tier departmental store at Banjara Hills has literally changed the shopping turf of Hyderabad. Gourmands and expats now swear by its range of frozen, canned and processed foods and exotic fresh food and veggies, found nowhere else in the city.

Quakertown Farmer's Market, aka Q-Mart, is in every sense of the term, a one-stop shop that answers all your larder needs and more. From groceries, breads and crockery to baby-care products and cosmetics, Q-Mart has it all.

The stalwarts in the deli list that sit in the frozen meat section are: onion cheese sausages, pork shoulder ham, Frankfurters, smoked salmon, frozen beef, tiger prawns and white pomfret. For those with cheese fetish, there is a lot to cheer about. Danish smoked cheese, Italian ricotta, mozzarella, Swiss Emmental with the characteristic holes and the Indian-made cheeses will have you hooked. Q-Mart even hosted a cheese festival, showcasing some twenty varieties from across the globe. Other imported items like yoghurt, fruits, canned food products, and various herbs and condiments to prepare that exotic meal too find place on the heaving shelves, besides the regular stock of staples and household accessories (from wiper to wine glasses). Among other things, the hookah with a range of fillings might seem tempting to bag.

If you are a bread buff, there’s much in store for you as well. Expect to find the Singapore-based Bread Talk products, breads and pastries, that are sure to tease your tastebuds. You may even wish to sit right there and munch on them piping hot.

Q-Mart remains open throughout the week from 9.30 am to 9.30 pm, is spacious, and has ample parking space. Those who stay within its ambit of 10-15 km, like Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills or Madhapur, can even get their stock delivered home for a minimum order of Rs 1500!

Q-Mart might seem a little overpriced, but for an exclusive store that has brought exotic stuffs right at driving distance, it’s worth letting your purse strings a little loose. What say?
