The concept of coffee shops has caught on and stayed fast in most young cities in tthe country and student city Pune is no exception. Here we give you a list of well-known coffee shops you should drop in to. Iceberg is a relatively unknown joint with the rest of the city, but popular among the residents of Shivajinagar. This cafe almost looks like a general store and serves cold and hot coffee and assorted snacks including a variety of burgers, rolls, sandwiches and the like. Its cold coffee is a welcome respite from the scorching summer sun; add a few rupees more and you will get a scoop of vanilla ice cream as well. Also on the menu is tasty bhel, pani puri, tikkis and other snacks. This place does brisk business all through the year. Head here for good, value for money food. Durga Coffee Shop is a hotspot for possibly every college kid at some point of time or another. Durga serves one of the best mugs of cold coffee found in Pune. At fist sight, all one can see is a small shop, whose threshold is concealed by a vast crowd thronging its doors at literally any time of the day. Its service is quick and one may have to stand occasionally when the seats have already been taken by the early comers. Located on Paud Road, it’s a must visit for anyone interested in a delicious helping of cold coffee. Great coffee and even better prices. Bliss Café is arguably, one the most visited coffee shops in Salunke Vihar. It has rightly earned its reputation for being a place that serves a good cup of coffee along with yummy snacks. Its snacks, including muffins, vegetarian kebab roles and croissants are a hot favourite of those who drop by to chill out for a while. The chocolate cookies, coffee cake and of course, its wide variety of cakes and pastries are more reasons to drop by. Also popular with the expat crowd, this place is reasonably priced and is a great hang out. Coffee Jar might have had a bit of a slow start, but today, it does brisk business throughout the year. Their cold coffee is always a try and the hot coffee is served in a relatively generous sized cup. Choose the stength of coffee you want. For larger groups a pit of tea or coffee is a good option. Their range of sandwiches is definitely one of the most sought after and exceedingly popular with their customer base and served in a liberal double portion. However, what really takes the cake (pun intended!) is their variety of chocolates and pastries. Coffee Stop has a reasonably priced coffee menu, with both hot and cold coffee worth a shot. The ambience is nothing to speak of, since it is more along the lines of a large roadside stall, rather than a café. It caters to a lot of students as well as the professional crowd. It serves a variety of fruit as well a rather palatable plate of pav bhaji. If you are someone who likes to sit on the footpath with a pal and munch on some pav bhaji or sit on your bike and sip a cup of coffee, hot or cold, on the side of the road then this is the place for you. Decently priced with no frills, it definitely has its fair share of takers. So get out there and sample the best of the java that Pune has to offer.
