The Bengaluru International Airport was originally planned to accommodate 3.5 million passengers a year, but was redesigned to handle 12 million passengers per year. In 2008, Bengaluru International Airport was declared the fourth 'Most Delayed Airport' in the world in terms of arrival according to Flight Stats. The airport is envisioned to meet the growing aviation needs of the city through the development of a passenger friendly, well operated and financially sound airport.
