Editors Note: Attakkalari is a public charitable trust formed by artists from different arenas, to unite the different contemporary creative physically expressions of India and the world. There is a grant from Ratan Tata, a leading industrialist and a patron of art. The Indian Foundation for Arts also supports this centre. Other patrons are Hivos (Netherlands), Dept. of Culture, HRD, Govt. of India, and UNESCO. Attakkalari conducts classes regularly in modern dance, Kalari Payattu- a martial art from Kerala, Yoga, Ballet and many International dances. Jayachandran Palazhy is the art director, and is a dancer and choreographer. He is trained in many dance forms and also an exponent in Kalari Payattu. He has studied from the London School of Contemporary Dance, learnt Ballet, Tai chi and African dance. The centre offers different programs for children, housewives, senior citizens and working people.
