Idea Packers & Movers -- One Customer's Tale I booked my goods & car from Kolkata to Bangalore through Idea Packers & Movers (IPM). They picked up the goods & car on 16th June 2013. They insisted full payment. With all good faith I obliged to the person came for picking up the stuff. His name is Suchit Singh (famously called Singhji from Kolkata, mobile: 9681766892). They promised to deliver in 5 days. I was fine with any date by 8 days. On 23rd June 2013, around 3PM their Bangalore office confirmed that goods & car has arrived and it will be delivered around 6PM. At 6:30 PM, they told that there will be 2 days delay. On every occasion whenever I call to their Bangalore number, they will say "we will call back you in 2 mins after confirm ... View More ation". They never did. I have to call them again and again. This was the beginning. On 25th June, again they confirmed the delivery at 7PM. At 7PM on my insistence to know the status, they reluctantly informed that it will be delivered on 27th June. On 27th June after repeated call, they told that it will be delivered on 28th June. Finally they delivered goods & car on 29th June. They took approximately 13 days. That was concern for me. But not the least. They will never update you. Whenever I call them I am in the begging mode and they answer me whenever they wish. In one occurrence when I asked to speak to the manager, they told "How dare you say that!" and banged the phone. I used to call 080-22117544. Most of the time they will say "we are busy now call later" or "nobody at the office, all are out for meeting, contact later" or "why you are bothering us when I told you, I don't have update now" kind of reply. Now the second part of horror. I found two of my sofas and the fridge is damaged. Sofas are soaked in water and a deep dent in the back side of the fridge. After several days follow-up one person (named Pradeep) came after two weeks from the date of delivery. He promised fixes by IPM. After two more weeks follow-up he informed that IPM can not help and I have to contact insurance company. When I contacted Insurance Agent Subrota Ghosh (9830964984), he had very limited patience to hear me. All he did, he told me to go to National Insurance website and find out the Bangalore office and submit claim there. Moreover, he hinted that soaking is a negligence of IPM, it is not a damage that will be covered by insurance company. All in the tone of great amusement and "go figure" mode. When I again contacted IPM everytime till date, answer is "We are busy, contact later" and banged the phone. My shipment details: Bill No. 01070 Date of packing: 16-June-2013 Pickup City: Kolkata Destination: Bangalore Delivered damanged goods: 29-June-2013 Insurance details: Company: national Insurance Policy No. : 100800/21/13/4500000053 Observation: 1. IPM staffs are very rude behaving once your payment is done. 2. They are never consistent on their promises. They will treat customers like a dog and just say something to them to get rid of them. 3. If I ask them "why didn't you let me know this situation?" -- answer is simple - "We lost your number" It happened all the times. 3. Very poor expectation management. Had they told that it may take 15 days, I would have planned the travel accordingly. I came with my family and stayed at hotel for more than 10 days. This is a big monetary loss. 4. I would like to critically mention Suchit Singh, one lady at bangalore office and Pradeep for their complete ignorance to my suffering. It was kind of fun for them to see me begging to them. Very disturbing attitude. I am not sure about IPM's long term goal but unless they have some kind of escalation matrix, it will be a horrifying experience for the customers dealing with these staffs.
