Indi is almost there but not quite there kind of place, if you like bollywood music then this is your kind of scene, there is nothing different here from their other franchises( Le Rock & Legends of Rock), its the same watered down beer,strange seating system, and of course the awesome sound system,Indi tends to get tad too boring after a while,but a few hilarious incidents kept the evening going :) One guy kept nagging the DJ to play a song and he got so pissed and spun the turntable real hard,next thing, we witnessed a black frisbee flying through the air and crashing into the bar shelf. Indie doesn't have a dance floor,but people find ingenious methods to create space to dance,like this one lady who after downing a few swigs, saw a nice dance floor in her table,*sigh*,so she climbs onto the table and starts dancing away..anyway all is well that ends well and the end came with the girl unloading a nice stream of puke rain on her three friends seated below..

@anuj..it needn't always have to be about slick ambiance or awesome food (or even firangis).the first time i went to pecos in bangalore, i was like ytf is this run down place serving watered down beer so revered..sometimes you tend to cut some slack for a place which rendered some fun moments in your life. ..maybe it served as your post-bunking hangout, or might be a place where you often caught up with old friends and shared a good laugh..dunno if u been to gokuls in mumbai..its one disaster of a boozeshack...but i know of at least 50 guys who religiously visits the place every weekend...but as always, everyone is entitled to his/her opinion..whatever floats your boat.. cheers

...went there on a Tuesday afternoon nd we got our tables almost instantly(just show up at around 12.30ish, you'll get tables) ,we were taken through a maze like setting which ended in a private dining hall of sorts...service was top notch..even with around 80+ people dining ,we were never left waiting for stuff to arrive...nd i dunno how to explain this but this place smells & feels old ..in a good way of course,theres this lingering nostalgic feel..maybe its just me..nyway,the food was flawless, northern kannadiga ishtyle, i had no clue what i was eating but they tasted really good,especially this thing they kept referring to as saagu or something...am not really into kannidga food(especially the sweetened sambhar..yuck!!) but then i loved the stuff they served here...ya the sambar ended up tasting like the rasam and vice-versa but thats a minor aberration i am willing to overlook :),....nd at 120rs i don't think its expensive,considering the quality of food offered

decor nd ambiance is a tad too minimalistic for their breathtakingly overpriced menu..the food at La Feasta is no doubt really good, but the pricing should be such that if your ambiance sux(which it does in this case) then the food should be really, nd i mean really good in order to justify the price tag(which it doesnt in this case)..so La Feasta gets a 2.5/5

if you are visiting the city for the first time do drop in for a meal, its quite an experience eating at this place, but Vishalla isnt the Vishalla it used to be, of course if you are a newbie to the place you wouldn't know, so no issues,:) !!

little italy aint the best place to go if you are put off by bland/insipid tasting food, everyone i ask says that how authentic italian stuff tastes, cmon,i mean, forget the spices, please dont tell me that Italians don't use salt in their food.the interiors are good in itself, but falls short when you compare it with their other little italy franchises in bangalore nd mumbai.

extremely popular amongst locals,try to arrive before 9, after that, it will require some extreme moshing skills to get around. On Toes is a casual pub(kind of a juhu's version of Hawaiian shack) where no one gives a darn about anything around them,the tables are cramped together to a point where you have to be deaf so as not to hear the conversation in the adjacent table. On toes has a decently stocked bar, but don't expect really exotic stuff

Galaxy Of Stars

don't quite agree with the editors note saying you don't have to out shout the music system to converse,the music at Galaxy of Stars is so freaking loud that you can almost feel your heart,lungs nd pretty much every one of your vital organs reverberating(including the brain,maybe tis the alcohol,not sure).

my must visit place when in mumbai,Gokul is a dingy ol' bar where you can get seriously drunk without a care for the world,the washroom in this place wouldn't seem out of place in a slasher flick, my humble suggestion is to not to eat anything from the place, just drink to your hearts content (or your puking threshold,whichever is earlier) nd head out to Bade Miyan,,Gokul is located just a lane behind the Taj,phew some contrast eh.

Finger Cross restaurant would bag the "value for money resto" anyday, beer pitcher comes to arnd 225 rs, which is cheap considering the ambiance, we have barged into the place at arnd 12 nd was still warmly greeted, music played is mostly retro nd groove, the max you'll end up spending at Finger Cross Restaurant is 400 rs(per head including drinks)

is sortfa mishmash between a bar,lounge,cigar bar nd restaurant .Aurora Restobar tries earnestly to justify each of this labels, sadly failing in almost every department. couldn't comprehend their intention for placing mannequins all over the place,the saving grace is the 2+1 happy hours.

not really the place for financially conscious( a pint of fosters comes to an atrocious 250 buks) food nd service is all good, my only grouse is the location, Atrium Lounge is bang right to the hotel lobby (on an elevation), they serve wasabi peas with the drinks, awesome stuff, just be careful , the stuff irritates your nasal lining nd you'll get the exact feeling of someone pouring hot sulfuric acid down your nose if you bite into a pumped one.

great looking place with contrasting seating sections(there is a well lite "white section" nd a dimly lit black section"), service is top grade, probably the best i have experienced, the chef, Joshua is one inhumanly skilled dude nd conjours up some divine preparations even while incorporating the subtlest of your preferences. Pure is one of those places which deserves a 10/5.

wat can i say, Trattoria never dissapoints,well, at least until the bill arrives.but honestly, the place is a lill too expensive(buffet is for 1300 buks!!), the place gets incredibly noisy even on weekday afternoons so kindly vanquish any thoughts of a cosy,romantic saturday night evening.

Yoko Sizzlers

stick to the sizzlers nd salads,everything else (pizza,sandwiches) are the same stuff you get everywhere else( just that the pricing is double), Yoko Sizzlers offer generous helping nd its unlikely you'll be able to finish off a sizzler all by yourself, the max you'll end up paying for a sizzler is arnd 300 buks which imho is totally paisa vasool.

Stax does a great job of fitting into the heavily cliched mould commonly referred to as "fine dining", classy,discrete,chic nd super expensive, food is good, would go out on a limb and say they serve the best tiramisu in mumbai,expect a damage of 1500rs per head.

well, err, the karaoke nights at jazz by the bay is strictly recommended for a 12 th grader, they play pathetic backstreet boys nd MLTR stuff, the buffet priced at 300 rs is bang for buck, they offer a pretty decent selection of appetizers nd soups, not just jazz by the bay has recently earned the ire of dessert enthus coz they chopped down the selection to just 3-5.

one of those rare places which serves good food at affordable prices,even if you have a stiflingly heavy meal,the max you'll shell out at food inn is arnd 250 rs..nd the food these guys serve is yummy to the core.

Coriander is a ghar-khanaish eatery nd is probably the only place in mumbai where you get to eat a full meal(4 chapati, one sabji, rice,dal nd salad) for 40 buks, sadly they shut down the place a month back, RIP coriander.

Caravan Serai Restaurant

their Dal bukhari at Caracan Serai is rivaled only by the one served at Peshawari(at the ITC), opt for anything with panner in it, unlikely you'll go wrong , they use some super soft marshmallow like panneer which melts in your mouth releasing all the spices.

the food (whenever it came) was awesome, be prepared to wait ,wait.. wait nd wait some more, ambiance at angeethi is your typical north indian eatery kinds, albeit with dimmed lighting.

the images of the conservative city which i left 4 yrs ago went up in smoke as i stepped into Pasha,was quite a shock to see the place empty at 11,but 20 mts later the crowd poured in, dressed in uberslick party wears, sheesh, back in bangalore, everyone would have gone home by 11. Pasha has a namesake dance floor, the drinks are pricey, but you have to give it to the place for the insane amount of energy it packs.

the place witnesses a literal infestation of techies during the buffet hours, so be prepared to b moshed, but the buffet at Isys is bang for buck at 225 rs nd they serve a couple of salads, biryani ( be warned, Isys comes up with strange combos the likes of pomegranate vegetable biryani??!!wth) nd a good selection of deserts(pudding,icecream nd soft cakes)

Grasshopper

set amidst tranquil garden, Grasshopper is a one of a kind resto in the city, they don have a menu, but you'll be served a customized 7 course meal. the restaurant is housed in an old farm house which further adds on to the charm of the place. you'll have to reserve a day in advance nd choose form veg/nonveg nd red meat/seafood. prices are steep, but there are certain things/experiences in life for which you shouldn't put a price tag on, this is one of those..nyway, for the benefit of mr sabya ,here it goes, meal for two at the Grasshopper comes to arnd 3000rs.

easily the most popular eat out in calangute beach, except for the lobsters( priced at arnd 2k) everything else in Souza Lobo is reasonable.try the assorted sea food grill(arnd 400 buks i think) which consists of squids, red snappers, oysters nd crabs. the fact that they are located along the edge of the beach allows for some stunning views of the ocean.

Chances Casino is Goa's version of the Flamingo, the place is value for money, you pay 200 buks entry , you're treated to unlimited snacks, beverages(no booze) nd a buffet dinner.they have classic casino games the likes of roulette,black jack,poker nd good ol' slot machines.

Tito's Retro Club

probably the most hyped/talked/discussed party haunt in goa, Club Tito is is a favored meetup shack for drug traffickers which has rendered it with a shady reputation. i just cant stand the dumb trance hip hop numbers these guys play,everythin else abt this place rocks!!

this place is huge, nd i mean boisterously huge,in spite of which Excess Club and Lounge gets packed to the hilt. the place has two levels with three different bar counters nd private dining rooms, but they have sidelined the dance floor into a tiny cramped area.

a nice hangout place which actually serves good food,aah finally.Road Trip has Harley Davidson posters plastered all over nd a yezdi road king parked inside. the fish nd chips i ate was top notch,my friend ordered a pasta was a lill too bland, but they took it back, spiced it up nd served it with complimentary blue cheese.

used to b good ,not anymore, the fact that there are only a handful of choices in the city for theme based restaurants probably made these guys complacent,service hovers between sluggish nd okayish,food is passable,the prices in Serengeti is sure to squeeze out any last bit of "serenity" in you.

they are good with the food part, but if Fiorano Restaurant hopes to take on the likes of via milano nd little italy, they need to hire a really good interior designer soon,dunno if the bland interiors were intentional but it looked waaaay too insipid for me, seriously,if i wanted to eat my food staring at a white washed wall, i would rather take away nd eat at home.

Thom's is a supermarket bakery combo which stocks lotsa imported stuff...the pasteries in this place were okayish but this place has been around for quite some time now nd shopping here has sort of become a tradition...

this place used to get really crowded when they were located in MG road but after they shifted it has become quite unclasutrophobic...the interiors of Lake View Milk Bar are honest and simple ( reminds you of Koshy's) but they serve good food nd in my book that's wat really matters ( any dumb idiot can hire an expensive designer to make his place swanky)..but to make great food...thats truly an art

My Tea House

this place is quietly tucked away from the urban grind..whcih makes it a great haunt to just sit back, relax, grab a book nd sip on a cuppa..My Tea House has a lot of combo offers like you could get a cake and sandwich with Darjeeling tea which makes it quite economical..

Sweet Chariot Cafe is one of those place which i would buy if had the money...they serve such great pasteries nd lasagnas but thier service totally sucks....even a Neolithic man with his limited intellectual skills would run this place better...

Daily Bread

this place serves a killer tiramisu gelato...the kind which would mop the floor with Mamma Mia nd the rest...well other than that Daily Bread is your average CCD clone albeit with a better ambiance..

this place has got a slick fashion lounge feel to it which i so adore...nd the DJ at this place truly rocks..thinks hes called DjIvAn or sumthin not sure...slams out some awsome trance, hip hop nd house numbers..Tuscan Verve also has a small(ok maybe tiny wuld be apporpriate) dance floor...

Cafe Terra

This place is bang opposite my apartment so i end up going there quite often even though i am not a big fan f thier ambiance....nd the Cafe Terra is probably the only place in Bangalore where you can grab an English breakfast...the waffles in this place is pretty famed but if they had only served it with maple syrup i would have been a lot happier....

Monsoon

probably the best 24 hr coffee shop in Bangalore...i expected the place to b really expensive ,,,but lunch for two came to just 1500 rs ( which is less by bangalore standards) ...nd i recommend visiting the Monsoon for dinner or late night snacking coz thats when the ambiance is at its best...

Cha Bar serves around 50 different types of teas but my fav is the black darjeeling tea.. the place is on the second floor of the Leela Galleria( sort of an extension of the oxford bookstore) ...they serve lots of short eats like sandwitches nd pakoras but they are pricey...

The Egg Factory

newbies will find it quite hard to get to this place..its tucked away in a small street..just keep looking on the right hand side after Dewaras... Egg Factory has a laid back and cozy ambiance which seems to be its USP... try the french omelets .. nd they have pure veg dishes too (without the egg)...

well...err...ahem...Rogue Elephant refers to a wild , aggressive , lonely elephant...how they linked it to the cafe.. i am still wondering...the only connection i could make out was the image of Ganesha pasted on the wall..nyways, the food is okayish...the pricing is a little steep..expect to spend 300-350 per head....

Aiaynar is a really nice place to feast on awesome chettinad cuisine..for the uninitiated, chettinad is a village in tamil nadu famed for its spicy non veg dishes....you can eat your heart out for as little as 150 rs...

extremely over hyped.....adayar ananda bhavan was once a fine place to grab a quick south indian bite but of late their quality has gone for a huge toss.... Krishna's cafe which is in the same price range offers a lot more bang for the buck..

the only place in bangalore which served paneer pasanda the way it should be...other than that, Aangan is your typical punjabi/n indian eatery in the city...

Queens restaraunt is the place to hog on some sumptuous north indian fare..i think they are open only for lunch and dinner ...try the kadai paneer, mixed raita,chaats and veg biryani.

finally a pure veg haunt whcih serves Italian,Lebanese nd Mediterranean fares... Try their Mexican Nachos, Enchiladas , sizzlers and Baked Jacket potatoes. ...the ambiance is not great but the food more than makes up for it

set four stories above on an open air terrace,the Liquid is the only al fresco pub in the city.,..the bleak surroundings sort of robs the charm of the place but this place is definitely worth a visit...the drink tends to go down smoother when in a nonclasutrophobic ambiance and i guess thats y people so love these pubs with outdoor setting..the place is not cheap...expect a cover charge of at least 1000rs on weekends...

there are far too less boutique hotels in pune and Studio Estique is an attempt to fill the void...the place is located at proximity to railway station (which btw is not such a great neighborhood), they charge 4000 rs fr a night, but it comes with free wi-fi, two free cocktails nd free ironing ...the view was disappointing though,,the only thing you see when you look out of the window is a similar window in the adjacent building..

awsome place...German Bakery is situated right next to the Osho Center and the place attracts the brown robed followers in hordes...the place is like the firangi meetup place in pune ...every time i go there its like the firangis are having a round table conference or something,,,the place is easy on the pocket nd their lemon tarts melts in the mouth...just that it gets really smoky nd often its not just cigarettes being smoked...

Arthur's Theme Restaurant

the first time i went to this place, i was a bit confused..Why would a restaurant serving authentic french cuisine call itself Arthur's Theme..??..but after eating the food , you stop bothering about such irrelevance ..the best french restaurant in pune...the rustic decor compliments the food really well...the menu has all sorts of strange names which i don remember..just point your finger nd the waiter will bring it..rest assured it will be good..

located bang next to a cemetery..Vision Cinemas might not wear the appeal of the swanky PVRs nd Inoxs but they dont rip you off either...the major disappointment was the seating arrangement which ensured that the screen is blocked by at least 13 head silhouettes and backrests .......

The cafe masala in Brigade Road totally surpassed my expectation...i had been to the one in pune and it was one absolute disaster of an experience...the Navarathna kurma in this place totally rocks!! the buffet costs around rs 400 per head, not too steep considering the quality...

Harima

Harim is probably the sole restaurant in the city where you can try out authentic Japanese food...the other is the Zen (in Leela Palace) which is horrendously expensive...and a little tip..if you dont know how to use the horse radish (wasabi) while eating the sushi kindly ask the people around...it is has an extremely strong flavor and you would end up with a burned nasal passage...

Orange Peel

Legends of Rock got some of the best sound systems on board, the sole bummer is that the place is a bit cramped..they play classic rock/metal stuff the likes of Maiden,Sabbath and Dire Straits..expect only standing room during the weekends...the ambiance is okayish..the first level is a smoking zone..dont know of many pubs where you can puff away inside...

INOX

Inox is a tad expensive compared to PVR but it definitely justifies the higher price with better sound,seating and parking arrangements. The only thing i hate about the place is their obsession with pumping up the price whenever a highly anticipated release comes to town..be prepared to pay at least double the price if you are going for a big release.

Fun Cinemas

Fun cinemas is a decent enough mini-multiplex featuring just three screens. The sole trouble with the place is that the lifts are forever cramped and the escalators are planned in such a way that you would end up roaming the entire floor before you reach the screens. This is a great place to go if you are a movie buff, for it offers a point system which you can redeem for snacks and tickets...

1498 A.D

A great place to chill and lounge around... 1498 A.D offers no room for complaints with their sumptuous food and prompt service. The first thing that strikes you as enter this place is the chic and upmarket feel, thankfully its not one of those snooty ambiances which one comes across in many of the luxury hotel coffee shops... The pineapple halwa with its subtle tangy taste and the Tiramisu was a definitive treat..another must try is the Mississipi mud pie...one thing i still cant sort out is why they have put up a mural of Portuguese Goa in the entrance...last i heard, Vasco da Gama landed on the Malabar coast in 1498..

A great place to hang out with out your friends.. the place is really slick and is a great place to while away the time with tons of board games. It is basically a community driven coffee lounge, a model which Barista tried to emulate and failed horribly. They had about 100 games and the prices are pretty reasonable, for 20 bucks you can play any number of games for an hour. ..the coffee is decent enough for the price..think they closed down recently..sad

the Zen is heaven on earth for anyone who swears by sushi, tempura and yakitori . The place offers an astonishing variety of Japanese and Singaporean delights and is a must try for oriental cuisine lovers. The ambiance is super chic and the service was was also prompt but i strongly suggest that nonlovers of oriental cuisine to skip this place.. and ya be prepared to shell out atleast 2k per head...

Pecos

An affiliate of the two-decade old Bangalore institution Pecos, Mojos is a great place to chill out without burning up your wallet. The chicken and dosa in this place is something to die for, and is sort of regarded as the best in the city or maybe even the country. Another signature item on the menu is the beef tacos was a tad chewy for my taste though. Mojos, unlike its older sibling which swears by classic rock , plays a lot of retro music. A word of caution, this is not the place to go for a quaint conversation as the music is so blaring loud that you can barely hear yourself, let alone the guy who sits next to you. Peace
