there was a time when you had at least a dozen restaurants in Hyderabad serving a good biryani.sadly,the number has shrunk to a handful,nd Shadab Restaurant belongs to that handful. these guys have managed to keep their standards intact nd still dishes out, arguably the best hyderabadi biriyani.

Ofen bakery serve a decent English breakfast comprising of waffles,poached eggs, iced tea nd pancakes. other than that i don really see a reason to visit this place.their crumb fried chicken is so not worth it,Ofen bakey manages 3.2/5.

anyone plannin on visiting Cafe Bahar, try adhering to this humble advice, ignore the insipid ambiance and just concentrate on the heavenly biryani served .its run by an Irani family so expect the meat dishes to be slightly bland.Cafe Bahar gets 4/5 for their outta-the-world biriyani.

Cafe Odyssey is now just a pale shadow of its former glory,this place used to serve the best fish n chips in town, but of late all they seem interested in is making money.the prices have been pumped up to exorbitant levels nd the quality has taken an almost propositional downslide.Cafe Odyssey gets a 3/5, nd the three is just for the ambiance.

Manre is all hype nd no substance, after the fall of Tabula Rasa i assumed people wuld hav some basic sense to understand that posh/super-high end lounges wouldn't takeoff in Delhi.unfortunately a female by the name Ramola Batchan seems determined to prove the notion wrong.do visit Manre if you have potfull of money nd is desperately seeking ways to spend it(you could easily end up burning well over 5k for just drinks nd starters)

angels in my kitchen is a quiet afternoon tea spot where you can breath a whiff of fresh air after a tiring shopping session in defence colony.doubly recommended if you are a dessert aficionado,which i am not.Angel's apple pie is popular fav though i couldn't bring myself to like it.Angels in my kitchen gets 3.8/5

a coffee shop bang opposite to the IIT with extreme dim lighting,well,i guess that makes it more than apparent that their target clientele is couples hoping to cozy up. i go for the cakes nd coffee,everything else at Cafe Turtle is passable at best.the interiors deserve a special mention,other than that Cafe Turtle is just one of those mundane coffee shops.if they trim down the prices a bit mayb i would pay another visit.

Kaffa is probably the only place in CP which has a happy hour deadline of 11 pm,thier Thai curry is supposedly a legend but i haven't tasted so cant comment.had a couple of shanghai chicken nd tasted pretty ok, the ambiance could be spruced up a bit.other than that Kaffa is perfect the way it is.

H2O the liquid lounge is a casual pub, the kinds which you would go on to unwind after a particularly bad day at work.liked the maze kinda setting they have,you can get pretty lost after downing a couple of swigs.the cocktails were little low on spirits but the place was crowded nd the bartender was rushed,so its understandable, H20 gets 3.8/5

Rock Bottom has a spaced out dance floor,sadly, all they play is punjabi numbers.the crowd was having the time of their life , but it was quite unpalatable for me. the best was yet to come, a single shot of Malibu is charged at 800 buks!!!the dude who named this pub"Rock Bottom" sure wasn't hinting at the prices.

these guys got it bang right with the sound system, y would they want to throw the advantage by playing crappy bollywood tracks.god only knows.Poison attracts teeny boppers in hordes, which is another let down, nd the cover + entry of 1500rs is pretty steep ,Poison gets a crappy 3/5 for the crappy songs they play.

awesome ambiance,awesome wine selection, awesome prices, a three course meal for 2(plus two glasses of wine) at Indigo will set you back by a cool 4000rs.expensive it is but then, you'll be hardpressed to find a similar dining experience in Mumbai.the closest would be Zodiac Grill, where you would easily end up paying 5-6 k for the same ambiance nd food.Indigo gets 4/5

Mumbai's true live music lounge, the Blue Frog's sports a straight-out-of a star wars movie feel with laser lights and pods(well,the searing area).i guess it goes without saying that this place is expensive.we paid 500rs just fr the entry,the best thing abt blue frog is the music,they have a live band playin 6 days a week.the food rating fluctuates between average nd good.Blue frog gets 3.5/5.

Bavarian joins Howzzat as only the second microbrewery in the country. sadly Bavarian doesn't match up to Howzzat, in terms of freshness of beer. the whole deutsch touch is nice, but frankly their price doesn't justify the quality or the quantity.they serve four variants of beer, but i couldn't make out any discernible difference.timepass kinda place,Bavarain gets 3/5

highly recommended for fans of oriental cuisine,well me not being one, found the place a pretty stodgy affair. but the staff at Kylin deserves a special mention,we kept pestering them to adjusting the ac, one of us dropped the soup bowl, and another dude kept sending back the dishes sayin it was too hot or too cold,not once did they portray an impatience.hats off guys.Kylin gets 3.5/5

the best thing about Istanblu is the all day happy hours( yup,their happy hour extends from 11 am to 11pm),hold your joyful outbursts. A 30 ml Smirnoff costs 130 rs. which means at the end of the day, whole happy hour thing levels out.the food was good,nothin to complain.Istanblu gets 4/5

try the crepes with pestos at Azzurro Restaraunt .and you will know what it feels like to have an overdose of gastronomical ecstasy.the decor is minimal but is appealing in a weird way,food is primarily Italian with some Mediterranean fares thrown in.the guy who makes the food at the Azzurro(the chef obviously) graduated from Le Cordon Bleu, no wonder the food is of such Utopian standards.

the place has three levels, but i mostly prefer the semi-open top floor as its the only place in the building where you can smoke ,you get hookah here but the flavors are extremely limited.if dark eerie ambiance nd loud bollywood tracks are your thing then you'll absolutely adore Urban Pinds(drinks arent that expensive, beer comes for 180-200rs).

finally a rock pub in delhi.in spite of its slick metro status, you would b hard pressed to find a decent pub in delhi which plays rock/metal.having said that delhi's Hard Rock Cafe pales to nothingness when compared to its counterpart in Mumbai,even Pune for that matter.The major issue was space,but since the place is in a mall, its understandable.anyway the acoustics were top-of-the-line,awesome collection of rock memorabilia and the black leather interiors were perfect for the rock theme.

well, the JC stands for Jesus Christ, this place looks like a cottage from outside nd its quite unlikely you'll ever find it out unless through word of mouth.anways, if you can ignore the religious overtones in JC Cafe (there are billy graham posters all arnd,the tv plays a gospel video,nd the magazine section consists of bibles nd Christian literature) then you are in for a great time.they make an awesome lasagna,veggie sandwich nd french fries.

Herbs n Spices is located in a quiet by lane in 80 ft road (its pretty hard to locate,look for a narrow lane after KFC nd just before Dominos) its got a warm neighbourhood eatout feel to it with spartan furnitures nd whitewashed walls.i usually hit this place for a beer nd chicken salad nd it sure tastes nice nd i wuld hav had dinner at this place if it wasnt so freakin expensive,i guess a meal for two with drinks would easily come to 1000rs..

Pune's ultimate chillout precinct!!! . have been to Thousand Oaks just once but was blown away by the sheer energy this place packs.The service alone makes this place deserve five stars.the waiters were never intrusive nd never lingered arnd.. but were quick to refill our glasses nd take our orders..Try the Barman's pitcher nd french fries with Tartar Sauce( i haven't got the faintest clue what it contains(supposedly a secret) but it sure tasted like heaven)....
