Like many other restaurants, Rice Bowl for me conjures up the old world charm of my early professional and life in Bangalore and i went back yesterday after almost a period of 15 years for a relaxed meal. Me and my wife decided that we will NEVER go back to this place. NEVER AGAIN. NEVER.
The pricing is quite comparable to any other upmarket Chinese dos. Yes it might be cheaper, but a average lunch or dinner will set you back by apprx. 2k a couple of beers included.
The service is DISMAL - BAD ! these guys are employing poor chaps who can speak english or hindi. The menu ordering is an exercise in human non-verbal communication.
the service and staff is downright shabby and the cutlery is downright unhygenic.
The ambience is plain run down. The food is BAD - i met the owner to complain and he told me that they dont cook fresh food but reheat the same. The soup is probably recycled Rasam / Sambhar from the hotel above. The main course wasn't even hot - luke warm !!?!! We sent back the so called chilli prawns and somebody just threw a couple of cut chillies and sent it back to us without even a stir in the frying pan. The only thing that was in an expected temperature range was the chilled beer.
When i asked for the manager - the waiter just put a tie on and came back - and yes you guessed, the poor soul could not speak english or hindi.
PLS DO NOT EAT AT THIS PLACE. THIS IS A PUBLIC HEALTH HAZARD. THE FOOD IS PROBABLY RECYCLED - THE OWNER MR TENZING TOLD ME AND MY WIFE AS MUCH WHEN WE COMPLAINED TO HIM. THERE WAS NOT EVEN A HINT OF AN APOLOGY FROM HIM OR THE STAFF MEMBERS.
Very sad to see a nice decent restaurant go down the drain. Yet another Bangalore landmark bites the dust.
