Sushil Kalra Sept 23, 2014 My wife (UHID No. 504265) was operated for single artery block on 24/9/2014 by Drs Vivek Jawali Murali Mnohar & Priyank Bhatti . After surgery, she was having wound bleeding and erratic sugar level. She was discharged on 27/9/2014. Initialy, no physician was involved but on our protest they called the Endocrinologist when the sugar level shot up to 349 and later it was found that wound was infected with a strain of Pseudomonas. The patient was taken to St Fortis hospital, Banarghatta but they changed the dressing and advised to wait for 10 days for bleeding to stop. On 3/10/2014 , the patient was rushed to the Ramaiaha Memorial Hospital, where her platelet count was reported at 1000/microL against pre-surgery count of 314000/microL The Patient struggled in the ICU for 11 days without diagnosis and improvement. After having lost hope, we requested for her discharge and she was readmitted in the private ward where she recovered with the grace of God, It was horrifying experience with the doctors at St Fortis with their uncaring attitude and just interested in billing. Our insurer MEDI ASSIST India Pvt Ltd had approved Rs.3, 44,000 as against the billing of Rs.M3,50,861 but they asked us to pay Rs.35661/ more before discharge. Moreover, their callous attitude was apparent when they shifted the operation time from morning to afternoon because the insurer conveyed the approval in morning around 9 am while the operation was due at 10:00 a.m. and possibly, the damage was done due to uncontrolled diabetes.
