Sassoon General Hospital: A large state run hospital in Pune. Sassoon General Hospital has over 1500 beds. The B.J. Medical College as well as a Nurses Training School are attached to the hospital. An NGO works in conjunction with the hospital to provide child care for the under-privileged. This Society of Friends of Sassoon Hospital NGO also runs an orphanage here. SGH is also one of the four centres in Maharashtra for free anti-retroviral therapy to people living with HIV as identified by the National AIDS Control Organisation.
