If you are ever looking for great North Indian food I would recommend this place. Though it is a complete hole-in-the-wall, the food is great. It's also really cheaply priced for the quality of Indian food.
I would probably recommend this place more for take-out since the dining area is pretty small. As we were sitting there a lot of people came in/out to get their take-out. My sister and I ended up sharing our 4 person table with 2 other diners because there wasn't much seating (though we didn't mind).
The Chicken Tikka Masala is a great classic. We had another lamb dish that I can't recall the name of- it was to die for. The Naan was much better then a lot of other places in Chennai.
The food was absolutely fantastic, and the service was impeccable; this was my 50th birthday celebration meal, and the whole evening was just wonderful.
We booked ahead for 19:30 and our table was waiting for us on arrival. Very friendly staff, and service was not rushed but efficient.
I would definitely make a return trip, and highly recommend the Punjab restaurant.
