I went for a health checkup at 4.00 p.m. I was told to consult a general physician and got appointment. Waited for one and half hour and then gave up. Though the staff are very polite the doctors seem to have their own time. I was given appointment for one Dr.Arumugham M.D. His time was mentioned as 4.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. But even after 5.30 he has not come. When asked nurses pointed out that he usually comes by 5.30 only and in Saturday he comes much late. This hospital needs lacks governance. Doctors think themselves as gods. He may have several personal work. But my point is the hospital should have atleast changed the board as 6.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.. Will never go to this hospital again.
When my 10 year old son was suffering from dehydration (both loose motion and vommitting), I want him to get admitted in the hospital as inpatient for treatment, as I am having a indivual health insurancy cashless policy from ICICI Lombard, in my son's name valid up August 2013. Though the hospital started giving treatment to my son, with motherly care as a virtue of any christian mission, it refused to admit my son as in-patient stating that the hospitial was not entertaining the individual policy holders instead entertains only corporate policy holders and demanded Rs.5,000/- as admission fees. As I was not equipped to meet such contingencies but for taking such health insurance policies (which is cashless in nature), due to the outflow ... View More
I went to ishabel hospital early morning complaining of vomiting and dehydration They got me admitted saying it was serious. But I was ok in 1 days stay but forced me to stay for 2 more days saying they wanted to observe me. But everything was fine. You how much my bill was. It came to 23,000 rupees. very very expensive. I complained but no answers. They say it is the hospital rules. SO BE VERY CAREFUL OF THIS HOSPITAL "ST.ISABEL;S HOSPITAL MYLAPORE". IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND WILL BANKRUPT YOU. APPOLLO IS FAR BETTER IN THIS CASE. THE DOCTORS ARE NOT GOOD IN ISABEL HOSPITAL AND THE NURSE WILL NOT LISTEN TOYOU. THEY KEEP TAKING ALL THE TEST EVEN IF YOU ARE OK.
it is the very best hospitel to get treatment. all the doctors and nurses are very good people.
non sisters are very kind to the patients and poor peoples. so many peoples got treatment and cured. even i undergon tendon surgery here. wow... realy i felt happy. this hosp like a home. less money but more service here. i always recommend any one to this hospital.

Most hospitals are like this. A hospital called Madurai Eye foundation in Coimbatore is not even having proper life saving equipments in their operating theatre. On the outside, this hospital looks good, but inside, its only basic equipments to make most money. If a patient dies, it is due to patients misfortune and not due to the incompetence of the doctor. This situation should change soon in our country and every hospital and doctor should be made accountable for patients health. Indian Medical Association and government should work together to bring honesty and sincerity to the medical faculty. I hope such forum should highlight the poor doctors and hospitals for good.

I delivered my child at St. Isabel's as I was misled into believing that it was an old established hospital with service in mind (just as many missionary schools and hospitals are in this country.) However, after my personal experience I will not recommend the hospital to anyone. It is expensive and yet the care I got was substandard. Some of their Doctors are good but many are not and since the administration is inefficient, you could land in serious trouble. Both me and my son were in perfect health after the delivery, but my son was kept in the Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for a couple of hours soon after birth. (Pls understand that there is a hefty fee that goes to the pediatrician and hospital if the child is kept in the NICU). ... View More

I would not recommend this hospital for two reasons,
1. The care they provide for the patent is not appreciable, even a small nursing home provide a better service then this old hospital (established in 1949).
2. Its more expensive than any other hospital in Chennai, you will not be able to compare the charges against any hospital. I could not really understand the reason for the expensiveness of this hospital.

Hi I recently had the misfortune of my mom being admitted in this place.Though I don't blame them for her death, I hold them responsible for making last few days miserable and more painful. Here are a few of the reasons- * The nurses were rude, unresponsive, and careless. * Unsafe practices- needles with blood was trashed outside the garbage bins, They left the measuring cans for urine uncleaned and undisposed. * they had inexperienced nurses experiment on my mom for IV insertion. It was so bad that we ended up recruiting a private nurse to care for my mom. *Enormous charges for stuff like phone calls, gloves, cotton ect. I hardly saw them use gloves. The tragedy was they charge us $10/- for a call they made to the doctor when my mo ... View More
