Wankhede Stadium: One of the two cricket stadiums in Mumbai. The stadium was built after a dispute with the Cricket Club of India in 1975. It was developed as a bowlers pitch. The location at the seaside is meant to assist the swing bowlers. It is closed for renovation till 2010. It will seat 45,000 when complete. It will host the IPL matches in 2011. The ground has seen many historic matches with the cricketing legends of India having achieved many a landmark here. The seating pavilions are named after Mumbai cricketers like Vijay Merchant, Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar.
