The Aromas

Commercial Street ,Bangalore
September 25, 2011 Rating
The Aromas, a recently opened Terrace Garden Restaurant, situated on the very popular commercial street next to Alice Jewellery. It is situated on the third floor of a beautiful glass building called Emerald plaza located on Dispensary road. If you’re in the market for stunning views, a laid-back vibe and an excellent grub, this uptown venue is worth the visit. It’s still relatively quiet, so get involved before the crowds descend. On our visit, the restaurant was half-full at best, with a mixed clientele that included couples and large families Here’s what we can piece together. The food does a decent job of filling you up – but it’s the unbeatable atmosphere that is the highlight. For starters, you are offered a selection of kebabs - delicately spiced, oriental Spring Chicken, Shrimp Toast, and Arabian speciality Zaataar with Hommous almost melt-on-the-tongue. Their Hot Dragon soup is absolutely marvelous. You needn’t limit yourself as there doesn’t seem to be any end to the food that shows up. You’re in real danger, in fact, of filling up on starters and soup before the mains have even hit the pan. When the mains do arrive, they take the form of three Curries accompanied by Naan and aromatic Dum Briyani with chunks of soft, tender and juicy lamb. The Butter Chicken is excellent, but it’s the Mutton Rogan Josh that wins out – so much so that even the non meat-eating people have been overcome by the scent alone. The service is great, with warm, friendly approach by waiting staff, who were incredibly attentive and formal. If you’ve got any room left at the end of it all, the Gulab Jamoon is sweet to the point of wince inducing, but no Indian brunch should end without it. The prices are moderate not expensive at all. With all this seasonal clement weather, why waste your time cooped up inside if you’re up for gorging yourself on any afternoon?
