I was invited here by friends for the afternoon buffet..and was impressed by the innovative food that was on the different salvers. what caught my eye and taste buds was the mutton fried rice..something I have never eaten before. There is an exquisite seafood collection on the menu like lobsters..crabs etc. The service was pretty cool and the waiters would respond immediately when needed them...Zen Magic?

Chandrika

For typical Karnataka Cuisine I usually head for Chandrika. The menu card is archetypal of most vegetarian restaurants dotting the city..but the food is good. It can get crowded in the afternoons..as many office goers visit this place to grab a bite.

Eden Park

I freak out on Andhra Cuisine and Eden Park Restaurant is one of my favorites. The food served here is amazing and my all time favorite ...is the Thali. The chutney's and pickles on the table are complementary and are..'hot & spicy'. I usually head for the bar first guzzle a few beers nibble on some some great starters like prawns fried golden brown. Guntur chicken etc..and then head for the dining rooms. The Biryani is typically Andhra and is also worth a dig in. Try the seasonal fish dishes that are also served here.

Red Bamboo Shoots

Museum Road ,Bangalore

Bamboo Shoots is one of the best Chinese and pan Asian restaurant in the city. The interior is nothing to brag but what beckons me again and again to this bistro are the great dishes dished out by the master chefs here. There is a bar and for non-drinkers there is an array of fabulous mocktails on the cards. The prices are a trifle steep..and people please don't order the same fried rice and a side dish..as the menu has great stuff waiting to be explored.

Hotel Royal Orchid

HAL Airport Road ,Bangalore

Geoffrey's is a snazzy place with all the three star trimmings thrown in. Checked out the place with a few friends in the afternoon and was peaceful with only a few yuppies and corporate blokes enjoying the nibbles and slurps. The service was impeccable and the sumptuous buffet lunch was quite a spread.

Guzzlers Inn Pub

Brigade Road ,Bangalore

Guzzlers Inn is a stone throw away from Pecos. The ambiance is pretty cool with standing counters, barstools and comfortable sitting areas. The music is loud and is mostly of the MTV genre. Food is pretty acceptable and usually in the company of good friends and cheer even middle-of-the -road grub tastes good.

NASA for some reason is my last watering hole on a night out. Weekends it gets noisy and smoky and if you are a small group then hit the barstools on the counter. Here the service is faster as you swig facing the barmen. And a sound tip guarantees the best of services. The only problem here is this is the way to the loo and on a hard drinking weekend you can imagine the rush out side the pee room. So just grin and beer it. The laser show has become insipid and now its time the these pubs come out with innovate events.

Pecos Pub

Pecos is the best watering hole in the city to listen to great and groovy music. If you trip on rock retro then this is the place to be and chill out. On weekends plan a trip early as the place chokes pretty soon and all available places including the spiral staircase is full. The countless smokers make the place look misty..the food is nothing to brag..but with countless swigs dig in to the fried saugages and fries that are served here.
