Udupi Sri Krishna Bhavan

Balepet ,Bangalore

I have eaten here about ten years ago and they had dosas that were very tasty - I have had masala dosa and sagu dosa. It is a big hassle to get there - messy narrow road and poor ambience, not the most clean looking joint etc.,. But if you love dosa - it is a must try.

The halka phulka meal is quite nice here quite filling and this time when we went the service was faster(unlike my experience in their outlet near the indoor stadium koramangala) Baingan bharta dish was nice too - but they served kulchas with it that were very 'rubbery'. If you order I'd recommend to choose rotis instead. This place is quite tight on space - if you are not careful - you could get your fingers squeezed between yours and the chair behind you. Definitely not designed for kids - they can hardly see what is on their plate when seated in the low cane chairs.

Ta'am Falafel

Koramangala 4th Block ,Bangalore
July 8, 2008
Ta'am serves pretty good vegetarian, middle-east fare. The menu is quite limited - makes it convenient to decide. They serve pita bread, hummus, baba ganoj thali style - meal for two with drinks would range from Rs.400 to 500. The food was good - Not the best mediterranean food I've had but passable.

Sree Krishna Kafe

If you like tamil sappadu on a banana leaf - no frills attached - just south indian meals - this is the place for you...

Good sit down fine dining expereince - they have an open kitchen with a large wood burn fireplace. I even spotted two italian looking chefs! The ministerone soup was nice, Try the thin crust pizza - very good. Pasta was nothing to write home about. Also they do not have any Veg starters on the menu - they do have a anti-pasti trolley.

South Indies

Indira Nagar ,Bangalore
April 26, 2008
Unlimited hot appams, ceylon parotas, good spread of traditional south indian food in a clean ambience. It gets very crowded during weekdays lunch. If you yearn for high quality south indian lunch and are a volume player ( if you know what I mean) you will extract maximum value... Down side: I did not like the rush at the buffet counters - they need to have more space devoted for the buffet spread...

Kinda small place but good for breakfast - idli /pongal /vada were good.

Clean ambience, quick service - typical udupi restaurant taste - liked the butter dosa, rava dosa was exceptional. They have thali north and south - not as great as their tiffin items.

Koramangala ,Bangalore

Zaika has a hotch potch of indian, chinese, few italian & mexican items in the menu. Crispy fied baby corn is a good starter - served with a spicke sauce. We tried the veg noodles (the usual taste) & the italian sizzler - this was a remarkable dish keeping with the spirit of their menu this item has rice, sauteed veggies, pasta and fries. Quite unusual but I liked it. Beware if you choose to go upstairs- the roof clearence when get to the top is just 6 feet! and can feel quite cramped - clearly not the best ambience - esp the waiter sometimes get too close for comfort

The Oberoi

Nariman Point ,Mumbai
January 12, 2008
Oberoi experience is way better than some of the 5 star hotels in europe and US this one is very conveniently located if you have meetings in the financial district - I have enjoyed the rooms with the view ( you might have to pay a small premium) Their breakfast is usually good - but get's a bit crowded.

Garuda Mall

Magrath Road ,Bangalore
January 10, 2008 Rating
Garuda mall has not been built for the volume of people that flock there. If you like crowds and want to rub shoulders with strangers - you must not miss this mall.Adding to the misery is the hoopla happenning with a sale for a car or some product in the lobby. What this all means is that bangalore needs more malls that are bigger...

Mavalli Tiffin Rooms

After many years - at least eight - I recently wnet back to MTR to have 'meals' as expected there was a lot of items and one has to be careful not to indulge in each too much in order to preserve your appettite for the remaining items... Taste was great as expected - I was suprised to be able to recognize some of the staff ! They accept reservations you can book your seat - and show up on the appointed time ( and wait for a short time) My guess is that over the years, the crowds have diminished here - but we enjoyed the 'meals'

January 3, 2008
Bombay post serves indian fare - had to wait for my food longer than usual. The food tastes good - nothing exceptional - pricey - taking advantage of the location I guess.

January 3, 2008
Good italian food - there are mexican items as well. Try their nachos with melted cheese - a nice starter. Thin crust pizza tastes great - they can make it without cheese. For those are veg-only but want to try italian - this is a good choice. ambience is not great - they have to do something about the green color napkins, staff uniform - quite jarring. Again like most speciality restaurants - items are pricey.

100 Feet Boutique Restaurant

Indira Nagar ,Bangalore

I tried their mediterranian fare - Pit bread with hummus it was good - their menu had a mix of middleastern and italian items. For maincourse I tried their pasta - it was a combo of regular pasta sause and pesto sauce. While the food was good, the ambience is not anything to talk about but it was overpriced.

Home Town

Maratha Halli Ring Road ,Bangalore

If you like IKEA ( minus the hauling and assembling drudgery) chances are you might like hometown. While the variety is not any where near equal - it is a furniture+furnishing+appliances+electrical+hardware shop rolled into one. The staff is not the best but the products are organized and displayed well.

Big Bazaar

Old Madras Road ,Bangalore
December 11, 2007 Rating
One thing I forgot to mention and you need to be aware - their efficiency and service levels both interms of the staff's enthusiasm and knowledge and how long they take to bill at the billing counter is really bad. Bring a lot of patience with you !

New Shanthi Sagar

Indira Nagar 2nd Stage ,Bangalore
November 25, 2007
Shanti sagar has maintained their quality over many years - I went back today after almost 6 years and the Gobi manchurian was still just as good ! Their food is rich - and they use cashew generously in their cooking. Service is good - they had fixed the tattered cushions between the last time I visited and now :-) In the evening I used to enjoy their pav bhaji - if you request they will chop up the bread and mis it up with the hot bhaji - different way to eat Pav Bhaji

Dr. Praveen Baliga

New Thippasandra ,Bangalore

I tried this doctor - and found him to be pretty professional and accesible over phone - which is not common amongst doctors in India.

Richmond Hotel

Richmond Road ,Bangalore

The lunch buffet has a great spread and the food was really tasty. If you in the mood to stuff yourself - but want variety and taste - this is a good choice. On the day I went the Keerai Vada was really good.

Big Bazaar

Old Madras Road ,Bangalore

Big Bazaar has tried to re-creat the Walmart experience and has succeeded. While bulk of the branded consumer goods are sold at the MRP, there are quite a few items on sale - that is what i guess as a consumer you need to track. I did find the prices on vegetables to be same or slightly less than food world / M K Ahmed The ambience was better than what I had expected - I found the food court and play area for kids quite convenient. Food prices were at darshini levels. Food quality was reasonably good - for the price.
