If one were to do a check on animal-friendly vacation spots, chances of finding such a place would be slim. Leaving one’s pet behind is quite a painful experience for both the pet as well as the owner. Luckily, the city has several pet shelters that take good care of your pets while you are away and make the separation a less-traumatic experience.
Take for instance, the Karuna Welfare Animal Organisation that offers boarding facilities for dogs at a nominal fee. Dogs are fed as instructed by their owners and are taken for walks. Medical care is also provided round-the-clock. They even have experienced staff on hand to deal with pooches who suffer from “withdrawal symptoms”.
CUPA, too, has this boarding facility, though on a much smaller scale. In fact, upon request, CUPA grooms dogs as well.
Over the years, most government/NGO-managed animal shelters have realised the ever-growing need for boarding kennels and have begun to cash in on this novel idea. Not to be outdone, some veterinarians too have honed in on this concept. Private boarding kennels cost much more and include a host of services like grooming, wholesome meals, twice-a-day walks and round-the-clock medical care.
Now isn't that a big relief for all you pet lovers planning a vacation?
