As you claim to be a user of our services at Shroff Eye, even though you have very openly declared Dr Anand Shroffâs name, you have chosen to keep your identity hidden.
Hence, we are not even sure if you are genuinely a patient of ours, still, we shall reply to your review with concern.
Dr Anand Shroff is one of Indiaâs leading eye surgeons, an expert in the field of LASIK for over 17 years. Not only does his expertise help his patients, but also the fact that he does not compromise in his patient care, offering one of the best lasers in the world, the only one in India- The Concerto 500 Hz laser.
Yes, ... View More absolutely correct that he receives many patients from over 93 countries and many other cities from India as well; those who trust his credibility and experience and those who know that the technology that he offers here is 6 times more expensive in their own country. In fact, over 80% of our patients come from âword of mouthâ and patient referrals.
The fact that Shroff Eye does not charge differently to patients from overseas and has homogeneous pricing for all, itself should tell you about our fair and ethical practices, something unlike most large hospitals in the country today, who have higher rates for NRIâs, expats and foreigners.
Also, our rate of re treating any patients after LASIK is less than 0.4%, and in the past 17 years, we have never charged any patient of ours for a re treatment, even if they visited us 5 years later. Something which again, most centres worldwide would charge you for.
The need for a touch-up or retreatment is not a complication of the procedure. It is not an uncommon outcome. In spite of advanced technology and expertise one also depends on an individualâs body response to heal in accordance to what is planned. Some peoples' eyes respond unpredictably to laser energy during LASIK surgery or heal in an unusual fashion after the procedure. One must keep in mind that this is a human eye with living cells that is being treated, and its healing can never be predictable. Optics can also change with age and lifestyle (the eyes were meant for the outdoors, but people nowadays do near work especially on the computers all day, resulting in changing powers), as vision is a dynamic process. These factors can cause a shift in oneâs powers, and this shift may be seen any time in the first year to even after 10 years post LASIK. Though these are disappointing to both patients and surgeons, most can be resolved with a LASIK re-treatment (also called a LASIK enhancement) when significant and a bother to the patient.
However, the choice to undergo a retreatment remains yours. You choosing not to undergo a retreatment should not hold the doctor treating you responsible for your action and dissatisfaction.
Dr Shroff is always affable and approachable and Shroff Eye is a patient centric organization, which genuinely cares for their patient welfare. It is indeed unfortunate that you have reviewed them in poor light, distastefully commenting on monetary reasons, which is nothing short of slander to Dr Shroffâs reputation and defamatory to our organization.
We on our part are always willing to help our patients to the best of our ability and resources.

I admit Dr. Anand Shroff knows how to perform Lasik eye surgeries, and it's great to be able to see without glasses! However, once he gets your money, he is a completely different person. Before, he was patient, kind, answered questions. After, he's rude, short, and can't be bothered to listen to your questions and concerns. The day after my surgery I went for a follow up and had several questions. He actually laughed in my face at some of my questions which made me feel belittled and scared to ask anything more. Less than a year after my Lasik procedure, I noticed one of my eyes just didn't have sharp enough vision. I went back and sure enough I needed a tweak. Dr. Shroff was clearly exasperated that he was going to have to perform ... View More another Lasik surgery on me free of charge (within the first year all adjustments are free). He was very rude and curt with me. You can tell he loves those customers from overseas who fly in for Lasik for a few days and then leave, never to return to bother him with any questions or complaints. I'm an expat who happens to live in Mumbai for a couple of years, so too bad for him! It's not my fault he couldn't do the surgery right the first time around. Ultimately, I decided not to have a second Lasik procedure done because I don't want someone who is angry and rude operating on something as important as my eyes! Who knows what might happen!View Less
