AMRI Hospital Kolkata is the worst place to go if you are trying to save someone older (65 years+). They are one of the key members in the set of legalized serial killers of Kolkata, whose only goal is to make money out of the hopeless situations of patients and their relatives.
My dad (age 75+) had a brain stroke and he was kept there (Dhakuria main branch) for close to a month after operation. The doctor Prof. R.N.Bhattacharya advised us that my dad would survive after operation and without operation there was no chance. Naturally we went in for the operation. He claimed that the operation was successful (we donât know), but the very next day he went back on his words and said survival was an issue for my dad. He started blaming us for delay in bringing him to hospital (which he did not say earlier). Fact of the matter is that he himself delayed for a day in scheduling the operation. After the operation, dad was totally neglected in the ITU and he suffered from a series of AMRI gifted infections. Even he came out of ventilator for a day, but the barrage of unending infections from the hospital can kill even a very healthy person, let alone a critical senior citizen like my dad. He died after 25 days, and his death certificate reads that he died due to septicemia (an infection in blood). He did not have this infection in blood when he entered the hospital â then where the hell he picked it up from, other than the great hospital? In fact, mid-course, he was transferred to a bed (without informing us of course like in case of most of the other changes ) whose ventilator was being used by a patient who died due to septicemia. Dad lost his life most probably due to the infection from this ventilator. On further research, we found that ventilators and other equipments in ITU can be cleaned completely. AMRI obviously does not care because a. there is no dearth of patients, b. legal system of India is too protective of such serial killers, c. Public memory is too short and d. Owners of such hospitals are way too powerful people of society, who can get away with anything. Even after my dad died, AMRI applied two costly injections on him, costing us close to 40000 Rs, At that time, they were fully awarethe patient was no more. The hospital goes as far as manipulating the record books to protect themselves if so required.
AMRI depends on just one senior doctor Prof. R.N. Bhattacharya in Neurosurgery, rest of the doctors are too junior to mention. Even Prof. Bhattacharya is highly uncommunicative, unapproachable, reclusive and robotic type of person. He behaves as if he is a God, though results say the opposite. He just conducts operations (whose outcome nobody knows) and leaves the patient on life support in a highly infectious environment, to somehow heal himself. Whoevers recovers (usually the young patients), they recover due to their own body capacity. Obviously the older patients are too weak and they donât recover. So, I suggest that you please think twice before taking older patients to AMRI and even if you go there, be mentally prepared for a torture by the serial killers. Think of shifting your patient as soon as possible, if the patient is already admitted there.
