Asha August 9 , 2011 Respected Board Members, My son is in class 10 , in a reputed school in Bangalore and is a ranker. He is very hardworking and is happy with the ICSE syllibus. I, as a parent, would like to know why the hindi portions are so vast. The usage of the words in the text books are achaic, Nobody speaks this hindi. The children in the South spend hours learning a language they may not use that often. While it is necessary for everyone to learn our national language, I feel that one should concenrate on common phrases and words and improve communication skills in Hindi. The time spent on this is more,, and less in core subjects which actually is more important for the child's future! I can proudly say, the south indians make that much effort to learn Hindi, while a north Indian living in Bangalore does not even attempt to speak basic phrases of kannada! I know I speak for a lot of mothers in south India who find Hindi a tough mountain to climb. The children end up disliking Hindi altogether. Kindly give a thought to what I have requested. Making Hindi an enjoyable subject for all children of India. Thank you.. My email id is ashoo28@yahoo.com.. I would like a reply..
