Its indeed a good place for treatment! I had gone there for treatment of resistent dpression and after disappointing visits to many Psychiatrists was amazed to find a difference. The treating team was listening, compassionate and competent. Before I received my consultation a detailed history was taken by a therapist who gave me enough time and then discussed with a senior before I received advice and consultation from the Senior Doctor. For the first time I felt I hadbeen heard and understood.
The doctor was very empathetic. He went through my records, did not make me feel like a foolish patient ( as most other doctors had), revised my diagnosis and gave a prescription which made me feel better. But when I did not improve even after a month of treatment (my past treatments had caused side effects but very little improvement) he suggested a course of Trans cranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) which is the most advanced and latest technology for treating drpression and some other psychiatric illnesses. This treatment has only been recently approved by US FDA in october 2008 and I was amazed to find it available in India at the Delhi Psychiatry Centre which is probably the first Centres in India to provide it.
I am now fully cured, have recovered after more than two years of suffering from depression and back at work and with my family.
I now only wish that more people like me can benefit. But I must advise you to boook appointment well in advance & be patient.
