Azzurro Restaurant

Saket ,Delhi
August 14, 2009
Italian?Mediterrenean? Mexican? Mughlai?...choices galore but we were a highly indecisive group. A common consensus took us to Azzuro in Saket. All of us had heard about this Italian/Mediterranean specialty restaurant in the buzzing PVR Saket complex but had not been too motivated in the past to eat here. A flight of stairs leads us to a quiet, serene and just appropriately lit restaurant. The first sight of the cream/off white plastered walls with comfortable cane chairs and white leather couches blending in perfect harmony, reminded me of a European street side café set up perfectly in a fine dining space Though the place offered minimal seating capacity (with a good view from the top floor), its simplistic ambience with a couple of glass lamps in vibrant colors just set the mood for a perfect Friday evening meal A look at the first page of the menu and our expectations grew tremendously high-the owner Chef of this place is a Le Cordon Bleu alumnus, one of the leading culinary schools in the world. To begin our culinary expedition (and play safe at the same time), we ordered Polenta Mushrooms for starters. This chef’s recommendation didn’t disappoint us and was a good break from the typical honey-coated, spicy, fried button mushrooms which are standard in many restaurants these days. Another chef’s recommendation- Risotto croquettes, fried perfectly golden brown were served with a yummy tomato and basil
