I was there the last week of December, as I was staying at The Park, and it was a convenient place to go and chill. And I enjoyed every bit of it, as bands like Pseudonym rocked the place. I have listened to a lot of live bands in Delhi, and Bangalore, but these guys were a class apart. Next evening was another band, equally good. The ambience is of a Irish pub, the crowd is there to do just what you are there for, but the bar is not that well stocked I must say. There was only Fosters one evening. Rest on all counts, I would recommend this place for all people who want the best live music in Kolkata, and drink at quite affordable prices. And well, I see the site says there is a dance floor - there is actually none. Coz it is not a discotheque. It's a pub, the way they are meant to be. 4 stars out of 5.

Tantra

This was once the place which had THE parties to go to, wherever u be in India. But those days, sadly, seem over. The DJ was good, and this club has a lot of space, but the crowd is just not that happening. It is not rowdy or anything, but the energy levels are either low, or they turn up in dresses more suitable for a dinner at a good restaurant. The bar is well stocked, and for members the area upstairs is nice. I prefer to start off sitting at the bar, before going to the dance floor. Still a happening place, still good music, but surely not a shade on what it once was. If you want the times of yore, when this was the most happening place, head to Roxy instead.

Roxy

A superb lounge bar in Kolkata, probably one of the most happening places right now. A swanky lounge with industrial decor, and unpainted bricks for walls makes this slightly surrelistic if you are a bit high. It gels well with the iron beams running across the walls, and I love this feel. It is different, and the ambience works perfectly. The bar is well stocked, and so is the place - with perhaps the hottest waitresses in town. Tiger himself would recommend this place. You can go one level up for more privacy or for your own parties. I just lounged on the ground floor, loving the music, the crowd, and yes, the girls. 4 stars out of five for this one. A must go for anyone going to Kolkata. For me, it was easier as I stayed at The Park. But wherever you come from, this place is sure to rock you, groove you, and leave you saying, wow!

Venom

Venom is a decent club, for the entry it charges. It has got good dance music, and a nice ambience. I specially liked the big graphic equaliser at the bar, which actually changed with the music! very cool. Also liked the big dance floor, and DJs from the Ministry of Sound playing some groovy dance and trance tracks. I would rate this as one the best in Kolkata right now, after Underground. The crowd was nice as well, and dressed for the party. I hate seeing people dressed as if they dropped in here by chance. And stags ARE allowed. Better if you go with your other half - its a place to let ur hair down without a worry in the world. I would give this place 3 stars out of 5, and would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a good, happening evening.
