Beware of EZI Drive Drivers! They drunk & drive! I had a nightmare experience. Here is the long story!
Early this week I hired one Driver to travel to Ooty for site seeing. I noticed something weird the way Driver drove the vehicle. He was restless in his seat, fidgetting often, driving in 40 km speed and he was trying to tailgate behind some vehicle...he was doing all sorts of weird things. I thought he might have missed his previsous night sleep and that may be the reason for his weird driving. I questioned him as soon as I noticed his weird behavior but he convinced me and started to drive properly and somehow we reached Mettupalayam. We planned one night stay there. We stayed in Black Thunder resort. Since the drivers usually sleep in the car, as it is in practice I trusted him and gave the key to him. At around midnight, I got a call from Mettupalayam Police as they seized my car on charges of drunk and drive. The driver took the car, went and totally drunk and on his way back the Police caught him. Long story short I happened to go from the resort at midnight and was standing in a cross raod and had to dealt with the MettuPalayam Traffic Polic until dawn and bribed Rs 5,000 to get back my vehicle. They seized EZI driver's all belongings (cell phone etc) and charged him on Drunken Drive. He supposed to go to the court and pay the fine. I don't need to bribe the police, but if I don't then I can only retrieve my vehicle on Monday (the inciendt happend on last Saturday). I was supposed to go to Ooty on Sunday and I have lined up all my booking accordingly. So, I had no choice to pay the bribe to Mettupalayam Police and finally got my vehicle back at around 5 AM on Sunday.
I hired another driver in Mettupalayam from the help from the Blackthunder resort management and finally continued our journey to Ooty. It is a nightmarish experience. I contacted EZI drive and demanded compensation from them, but they least bothered about my complaint.
I don't want someone else to go through this nighmarish experience. Looks we can not trust EZI drive drivers anymore. Looks EZI drive is quite buzy now and they don't have time anymore to properly screen the drivers! So, I would say avoid EZI drive for long driver like this. Instead take some good drivers in your visinity itself or only take drivers through referels.
