Dear Nirav , I was amazed at reading your comment on the achool. Honestly, even before I stared thinking what the teachers are doing, it prompted me to think what we are doing as parents It has become the national pastime of this counry to blame the system when it doesn’t work for you. It is this kind of thought, wherein our children blame a system and feel trapped by it, which gives rise to the black despair leading to child suicides. Really, Nirav doesn’t all success at top levels come with a roll of the dice? And when we trach our children to blame the system rather than enjoy the participation, are we not restricting their capacity to play with the hand that they have been dealt? It is my experience that no system is perfect and it can be made better only by participation rather than pointing fingers at the individuals in the system. I found your comment that the “Ryan King results were prefixed” particularly unhealthy, unpalatable and notional. I can only imagine that it is your love for your child and the disappointment at his not being selected which has forced you to make that comment. Let me tell you that my child actively participated in all events last year and this year too and consistently won the maximum no. of certificates under two different teachers. On all occasions I have found all teachers to be loving, proactive, co operative and responsible. Personally I felt that last years price and princess awards were unjustified, but if we parents cry foul every time our children don’t win, it will convert all teachers into uncaring fence sitters, who will not take responsibility or co operate with any body. Personally I would rather have teachers who will cherish my child than have teachers who just hand out prizes. I have fond memories of my schooling days where all my teachers loved me and cherished me, but if we take this attitude every teacher will be cautious and more interested in protecting their job rather than the welfare of our children. It is simple to blame the teachers, when what we should be doing is teaching our children to enjoy the game.
