Kefi

Ambiance wise this is probably one of the most romantic places to be. Kefi is located on Taj's rooftop. it truly sits like a jewel in the crown. the moment you set your foot on it, you are welcomed by cool gentle breeze and the sight of beautiful cool blue water. that's right it's a roof top restaurant with a pool side and a bar next to the pool. there are different seating arrangements available including a private table which very nicely draped in curtains (they call it cabana) . if you want to bring your someone special on a date or a special day, this is one of the best places to be. the lighting is very soothing and the music compliments all this. Coming to the food they have different categories in starter like the hot mezzi or cool mezzi we opted the hot one which was decent but what was really nice & really amazing was the charcoal grilled item. and the fish in the main course, the pita bread is something to gorge on but i would recommend rice if you are ordering fish. Sorry veggies i have no idea how the veg food is...didn't try anything veg. the dessert they served was a pastry filled with pistachios which was heavenly. The beverages were nicely made, we ordered vodka based cocktails both were very very good. The Taj staff is very efficient and very courteous, they know what they are serving...which is very important. It was our anniversary and my husband had booked a private cabana for us before hand hence the Taj staff was aware of the special occasion My husband wanted to place an order for a cake which they said is not required and they would bring it as a complimentary thing. The cake was also amazing. i was overwhelmed by husband's surprise dinner venue for our anniversary and i would strongly recommend this place for anybody who wants a perfect setting for a special day or even to spend beautiful romantic time with their spouse. Well the pricing part is usual star kind of prices, luxury that is, would come to Rs.1500/- per head but so worth it.

KFC

Everybody knows that an eatery like KFC has standardised menu, quality and service. So undoubtedly annanagar's kfc outlet is equally good like other kfcs in the aforementioned qualities. but what i liked the most was the ample space for sitting available at this particular outlet. the parking space is also very convenient. the staff as usual friendly and efficient. if you just want to gorge on chicken and are in annanagr then kfc is the place to be.

Barbeque Nation

T.Nagar ,Chennai

WONDERFUL!! since i have arrived in chennai, my husband is being talking about going to BBQ nation (a sayaji groups venture..is there in 17-20 other cities). but it never materialised specially coz i am not a big fan of bb'qued dishes. still i thought i'll give it a try and we took my mum to bbq nation on her b'day. luckily we had booked in advance so we didn't have to wait. the restaurant is on 2 levels and after 9.30 pm they don't seat customers in the ground floor section. but we requested as my mother can't climb stairs and they promptly agreed. i was totally impressed by their ambiance (i liked their furnishing very neat and very well lit...dim lighting just puts me off and makes me doubt the credibility of the food being served) and loved the idea of live grill on your table.a charcoal grill is brought at your table along with skewers with meat, fish and veg and you are invited to grill. the meat/veg is lightly cooked with all the flavours before it is brought to your table so you don't have to spend long grilling them and they give a basting of sauces. despite not being a fan of grilled items, i loved the food. specially the garlic fish and the prawns were delicious. the whole idea of bbq nation is buffet style. the starters keep coming to your table till you decide that you are ready for the main course. the main course a variety of veg dishes one mutton dish, one chicken dish and one sea food curry. the have a variety of salads/accompaniments which are very tasty. the dessert has around 4-5 choices. i enjoyed my experience at bbq thoroughly. it's one of chennai's few eat outs which serves alcoholic beverages. one more thing i have to mention is the singer they have on board. he sings very well and gladly sings the songs you request. he sung two english oldies at our request adding a whiff of liveliness to the already live environment. the only important thing is that you need to book before you go or you will end waiting for 30 -40 minutes and believe its hard to wait when you look at others devouring at the soft perfectly cooked meat along with wine or some mocktail. coming to the pricing the buffet is Rs. 425/- to Rs. 525/- per head. and alcoholic beverages range from Rs.110/- to 600/- depending on what you order . so you would be spending Rs.700-Rs.800 per head if you have drinks else Rs. 500-550. i would rate bbq nation 4.25/5 in every respect.

Supub!!..i mean superb place to unwind & hang out with your friends to talk, laugh and get drunk. but this pub gets full by 7 p.m!!! that 's the kind of demand. it's full even on week days. although they are kind enough to offer to accommodate you in their restaurants which is perched just above their pub where the music, drinks and food is the same but the ambiance is of a restaurant. the drinks are not very high priced starts from Rs.230/-. I had a citrus martini of the same price.the nibbles that they offer is what i found slightly higher priced for the quantity they offer. we had ordered a sausage item for Rs.130/- i would rather suggest ordering chicken wings or lollypops. well coming to the main area of interest -drinks.they have a wide variety to offer. they also offer mocktails, which i haven't tried out yet. recommended drink would be Green Eyes (it's vodka and pineapple juice) priced at around Rs. 335/-.One thing about this place is that guys must wear a closed shoe to gain entry.they must have had some big time problem with some stinky feet in the past...nah, i guess they have put this rule in place to rule out certain kind of crowd which i must say they have. the crowd at zara is very decent...but there is a CROWD at all times. the closed shoe rule is only for guys not for gals. if u are going with a big gang or paltan, please reserve in advance, specially if you wish to go to the pub. i would rate them some what like this -->drinks- 4.5/5 ; ambiance -3.5/5 (i would have given 4 but the music was too loud, although good music but too loud...the concept of a tapas bar is to allow people to talk and chat so that they do not have to just concentrate on food which ironically is difficult with such loud music)service-4/5;location-4.5/5. everything about zara is great , just like any other Oriental Cuisine venture. although unlike all oriental outlets (except benjarong) the quantity of food for the price is a little less here..that's maybe the concentration is on the other kind of concentrates ;-)to which i would say just take it in good spirits & say cheers!!

the place is done up nicely and is in the heart of the city but its very expensive. the service is good but it would have been helpful if the waiters were more knowledgeable about the food they serve. as the food served is not indian, you need someone to guide and inform you. the beverages are good priced from (Rs.80/- to 175/-) and the starters range from Rs.150/- to 275/- and the main course is also of a similar range. the main course i had burritos was hopeless as the chicken pieces were scarce and it was full of beans (rajma to be precise), though the dessert(apple pie) was very good. cost for 2 would be around Rs800/- to 1000/-.good place to binge if you are a fan of mexican food .they also have a concept of euro-mex food. and some american food is on the list like clam chowders. must try out the place as a good change. their pure chicken items are very good.they have a few branches like one in ecr, chinatmani signal(anna nagar), and remaining like i always say....ask laila.

Never thought the quaint steps leading to the place would lead me to burger's paradise.definitelyTHE place to be if you are a burger lover. its little expensive (a chicken burger would cost you Rs.115/-) but worth each paisa you spend on it. did try out spaghetti bolognaise which was a disappointment. their idea of getting juices and other beverages from the famous fruitshop at greams road (which is on the ground floor) is superb! the service is good and the place although small is decent and draws very decent crowd.

Huge variety is what comes to my mind when i enter nilgiris. its definitely a heaven for all those people who love buying variety of spices/condiments/chocolates/ ready made spices,paste/ etc.(basicially stuff related to food and cooking) the only draw back is non availability of car parks and that the helpers/sales ex do not understand if you ask for things like chocolate sauce. but you if you have time and patience to hunt for the things you need then nothing like nilgiris. the nilgiris bakeries has fresh and very tasty items. its a place to go for if your shopping list consists of 90% of food related items.

Kayal

Kandanchavadi ,Chennai
March 26, 2010
Its really difficult to even notice this place. the entrance is from the backside of the complex.very dimly lit place. its expensive no doubt. the quantity served is although enough. the spicy chicken curry they offer is very tasty and goes very well with rice. its not a place you would want to spend time or take efforts to get ready. certainly a bad option for a date or for partying/treating. the only time one can think of kayal is when you want to have rice and fish or chicken curry which is home made kind (spicy and tasty). one chicken curry would cost you Rs.140/- (sufficient for 2 people) and rice plate Rs80/- not sufficient for two. nonetheless the kerala style chicken (kori varruthu) is very tatsy.

Wangs Kitchen

Anna Nagar ,Chennai
March 26, 2010
Wangs kitchen is the place to eat (or get home delivery) if you are sponsoring a meal for a bunch of people who have huge appetites & dig Chinese food and you do not want to dig deep into your pockets. The quantity they give is sumptuous. The food tastes very good except the fish items which are just good. The chicken starters are superb! One plate of starters(Rs.150-175) and one plate of noodles(Rs.160-Rs.190 or lesser maybe) is more than enough for 2. The service is good & fast. Ambience is okay, neat and clean, good music too although I find the lighting slightly dim. Try and order fried ice cream, its slightly steep(Rs.105) but a favourite of ice cream lovers.if you do not stay in anna nagar then you can try their branches which are closer to your place they are all equally good or better (i have been to adyar, mogappair others are in ...well ask laila!!!

March 26, 2010
It is a decent place to eat if you are in a hurry. it generally draws office crowds. it is certainly not a place to look out for a relaxed lunch or a date. but suits the office crowd who drop in for a quick service. been there twice for lunch and liked their parathas and their thalis. can't call it cheap but in egmore nothing comes cheap. a north indian thali would cost you Rs.125/- which by egmore std is decent pricing. very good lassi priced at Rs.38/-. Everything is just about average about this place.

Pizza House

Satellite Road ,Ahmedabad
March 12, 2010
i have always just ordered for home delivery, never really been there. the home delivery service is good. have ordered a couple of...it reaches in say 20 minutes which is good considering a'bad's chaotic traffic...and the spinach pizza is a must order. best is to order 4 pan pizzas in 1...they have a scheme like that works out cheap and you get variety...it's enuf for 2 if u rn't very hungry...it'll cost you Rs.250-300.

Unwinding in nature's lap with all modern amenities...if that's what u r looking for in Mysore then Windflower is the place to be...it's location is v.good at the foothills of Chamundi temple .mysore is a small city,so nothing is too far. food's good.its a place for weekend getaway kind.. take a dip in the pool or relax with a book. or just laze around in the lush green lawns...order some beer and spend the day chilling out...even kids enjoy as they aren't confined to rooms...the place adjacent to it called planet x is a good entertainment zone with go carting/pool..etc. Windflower is expensive say Rs 4k for a day but then in Mysore all places of stay are expensive so better spend where you can get some return...don't forget to reserve a room before you head for mysore or most likely u'll end up with no place in mys city at all as everything everywhere gets booked on a weekend.

Very neat and clean.all services under one roof. worth the money. not very expensive just about the right price.good service. though sometimes you have to wait for a while.but then again they have a nice waiting area with lots of magazines. the timings are very good. suitable for working women. it's open till 7.30 -8:00 p.m.

March 12, 2010
The food is very good. Unlike other restaurants of oriental group, the food isn't sumptuous but the quantity is still decent. Very warm welcome by the staff, i specially liked the way they served the appetizer (kind of thai tradition or something,we didn't order for it...it was on the house). Not a v.big place but very tastefully done...a good try to give it a Thai touch. Can't comment on the authenticity of a thai dish (never been to thailand!!) but v.tasty food. not bland or raw like i thought it would be. it's definitely on the steeper side. for 2 you will have to spend some where around Rs.800-1000(inclusive of dessert...which was yummy!!)

Domino's Pizza

Mogappair East ,Chennai
March 12, 2010
We hopped in to Domino's for a quick bite..which wasn't quick ! the pizzas were just about okay with scanty toppings. nothing great about the service .its self help but they do bring the menu to your table on request. well, for the amount of money spent...not worth it . certainly not the place to go to out of choice...its okay if you have nothing in vicinity and are really hungry.
