Come discover one of the oldest literary societies in town! The Royal Asiatic Society of Bombay, housed in the town hall, is one of the oldest libraries in the city. Founded in 1803, it contains over a hundred thousand books, including priceless ancient manuscripts and rare, valuable books in Persian, Sanskrit and Prakrit. It conducts preservation of such old books and also has an Adopt-a-Book scheme which allows members to fund the conservation of the books.
