I stayed in Hotel Samudra on two occasions at three years apart. I must say that the service has deteriorated considerably. The man at the front desk is not particularly friendly. He also has the attitude of a government employee who is inconvenienced by the arrival of a customer. My stay this time (in the second week of August 2013) was only for overnight but he insisted that I pay the entire rate (room + tax) in advance! To be clear, he didn't spell out the rate + tax but simply came up with a figure that more than included the room rate and taxes.
