Art Of Living: For peace within and outside yourself. Founded in 1982 by His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, this voluntary organisation has a presence in over 140 countries. It aims to promote peace at the individual level, in the society, the nation and the world. It works in the areas of conflict resolution, disaster and trauma relief, poverty alleviation, environment sustainability, empowerment of women, prisoner rehabilitation, education for all, and campaigns against female foeticide and child labour. Self-development programmes based on breathing techniques, meditation and yoga help combat stress, increase alertness and improve health.
