St. Xavier's College: This college has been named many times in the India Today Top Ten colleges in India list for its academic excellence. A Jesuit institution established in 1860, St. Xaviers College was recently declared autonomous, this is the first college in West Bengal to be awarded this honour. Graduate and post-graduate degrees are offered for fields under Arts, Business Administration, Commerce, Education and Science. They even offer a BSc in Animation. There is a morning session for boys interested in pursuing a BCom, while the day and evening sessions are co-educational. The alumnus boasts of many successful luminaries from various fields
