My experience with AVIS was horrible. Though I got repeated e-mails stating my car is reserved for self drive (confirmation number : 04830417US4), no one showed up in the airport when I reached Chennai. When I called the phone number mentioned in the confirmation e-mail (00914442212802), no one picked up the phone. I managed to reach the local Avis office, which is located few miles away from the airport and I was surprised to hear them saying that they do not have a car for self drive and I need to hire a driver from them for additional cost (this is additional to the cost mentioned in the reservation contract).
